Proposed at the Taj Mahal.

Downs:

Ups
- itfc promotion
- got fully settled into my new house
- still playing football once a week and holding my own against all the young uns

Downs
- some nonsense at work resulting in me suffering quite badly from stress (my job is safe and sound, more an issue with other people!)
- one of my cats was run over and died
- despite the above football comment, I'm really starting to feel like I'm getting older.

Overall a 5 or 6 out of 10. Those first 2 downs really did mess up a few months of my year.

I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun. I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

Crashing on my bike, doing my hip and elbow in.

Over all some good but a lot of crap.

6.5/10.

Still there is always next year.

Ups: trips to Dominican Republic, Savannah, New Orleans and England.
Almost every minute of ITFC promotion and crying more than a grown man should when watching and re-watching Town in 5, and also Brenner’s commentary.
Getting to watch two prem Town games while back in England
Taking a lot of Fridays off in the summer to spend time with mate suffering from MND. Perspective ++

Downs:
Losing that mate to MND.
Wife getting quite ill on that Dominican trip and still fighting with the U.S. health insurance company over the $7k they owe us.
Losing both Town games I was able to see

Ups:

Seeing town get promoted and a Hoopoe in consecutive days - two bucket list items
My cat is still alive
Completing 100% on all Spyro games
Surviving 12 months longer than I predicted I would this time last year

Downs:

Numerous health issues - having to almost cut all food out
A band breaking up
Massive heartbreak
Severe depression and some bad relapses
No end in sight to any of the sadness

Bit of a negative post, but probably all in 2/10. There have been times this year when I came close to jacking it all in.

Ups:
- Town promotion and the fact my Dad recovered from near death in 2023 to witness it
- 25th wedding anniversary with the love of my life
- £250k inheritance from an estranged relative of my wife that we had no idea had a sizeable estate or that he would leave a penny to a family member he has only seen twice in 30 years
- A lot more fitter than I was a year ago
- lovely holiday in Bali
- playing a standard of golf I never knew I was capable of

Downs:
- turned 50 and still can’t reconcile I’m that old
- teenage son having significant mental health issues
- made a big career move in 2023 and not enjoying the new role, really wondering if I’ve made a big mistake
- mother in law’s early onset dementia has got to the point she doesn’t recognise anyone and is living a non-existence in a care home

Would ordinarily have been a 6/10 - but the unexpected inheritance means that it should be more like an 8

Yes, I have a therapist and have had good medical support. Sometimes it can’t always be enough - and sometimes people’s time is up.

Anyway, don’t want to derail this thread - thank you for your concern :)

Of course we are concerned. Part of the point of the forum is sharing stuff and whatever differences of opinions on the trivial or stuff we cannot affect, we all know what is important and what is not. Number one is well-being.

So post away and shamelessly use anyone that may be able to help or at least listen.

Ups: Town promotion... pre-season trips to Austria & Germany... Still managing a week's skiing holiday, 2025 will be the 38th annual trip... my perennial (15+ year) skin cancer issues have been controlled by an excellent expert dermatologist though she did admit I've been lucky to last so long... Mrs FE continues to inspire me with her ridiculous commitment to ITFC... volunteering is brilliant... wonderful support from my church & church friends... Great music released & live, classical / folk / prog rock...

Downs: my mum died in Feb (not unexpected), followed by her brother 4 weeks later. 7 hours after I had sorted her probate, my bro-in-law died suddenly in my arms, aged 60 (his wife, my sister, died 3 yrs ago). Sorting out his various chaotic stuff, complex assets & debts, house 250 miles away north while his mum is 93 & 200 miles away on the south coast has been just horrible; that's pretty much the end of my side of the family (no-one in the next generation).

5/10 at best...

Ups.
-After 7 years of looking we bought a lovely old house back in April (Miss Slave's inheritance after losing both parents), have been introducing it to central heating and the likes ever since and will sleep in it for the first time on Christmas Eve.
-Some fantastic away days, many up North with Junior who BTW makes me more proud every day.
- Another year of realising how lucky I got with Love.
- GB put me on ignore...

Downs
- We bought a house, haven't had a day off work since Easter and are skint.
- I turned 60, inescapably old and just read on here I'll be lucky to get another 10 years.
- As the year has progressed it has become unavoidable to admit that my mother is developing dementia.
- The World is going to hell in a hand cart.
- Junior revealed she has her own demons (she has faced them and is doing well)
- Apparently I now have to vote Conservative.....hence....

.....a solid 1/10.
