What are we expecting from Cameron Humphreys this year? 17:47 - Jul 9 with 2412 viewsLibero

Is he going to make a push for regular first team involvement? - we're looking a little light in the middle of the park currently, I wonder if he may get some minutes there while we are still in the market for another central midfielder?
I can't see him breaking into any of the wide roles or behind the striker and Townsend is a very capable and experienced understudy to Davis.

To be sold to Luton.

I think he'll go on loan to a midtable Champ side. Not sure he's quite there yet to contribute for us but McKenna likes him and a full season playing in the Champ will do him the world of good.

He's got to be there or thereabouts, he looked capable enough two years ago and I think he's pushed on since then.

Not sure he looked ready for a top 2 seeking championship side or back up, but let’s hope he has developed as would be great to have him involved and save us millions.

The only Muff in Town.

I suppose only 3 championship games was not really enough to judge but he'll be 22 soon and ripped up league one so it's now or never really.

Aye, I think as of next season he no longer has the under 21 benefit of not counting as one of the 25 man squad, so really you’d expect to see a pathway open up sooner rather than later?
There’s no point keeping hold of him and loaning him out year on year until he’s 25.

I hope he stays and plays a part in this season. If he goes out on loan again I question whether he will ever get a chance to become a first team regular at Town.

Also the 17 in league 1 season before where he certainly didn’t pull up trees, but also didn’t look out of his depth either.

I think he will be sold to a promotion chasing league one side. Just can't see him breaking into the team here and think we will sell while his value is at its highest.

I think he'll be given pre-season to make a case for his inclusion in the squad going forward.

Not a great deal but good luck to securing a squad place. I would love to see that happen and for him to start making a real contribution. He was too light weight for CM in L1 but we will soon see what 2 years development has done for him.

Tangential but people need to forget about where we want to be and focus on where we are.
But from what Ashton has said I think they will consider him a bit lightweight for a CM in this league.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

He's continued to bulk up.
For some players, it just takes a bit longer for them to physically mature, 22-23 etc. I think the club's done an outstanding job managing his development with suitable loans and game time. Like Baggott, i think he might stay as 4th choice and clock up 5-10 appearances.

Jack Taylor has one year left on his contract. Sam Morsy has been linked with a move away. It's 10th July and we still haven't pinned down even one new centre midfielder.

We surely aren't going to be in a position to let Cameron Humphreys go anywhere?

From what I’ve seen of him, I think he’s ready. He’s got lots of ability and a great attitude. He will have learned a lot from the rough and tumble of L1 and he was one of the best players in that division last year.

It’s easy to dismiss our own players, but I think he’s got a bit about him. We are woefully lacking 8n midfield and he might just provide an answer or two.

I'd say it will largely depend on who we manage to bring in. If we're still looking thin in DM we may well need him.

Think he'll be given every opportunity to make a case in pre season and am hoping he is very much in and around it.

Think there is a world in which we sell Jack Taylor and Cam is the 4th CM in the squad, offering a nice bit of versatility as well

I think he'll do well for us in midfield. I dont think we'll be looking to sell or loan him out again, unless, we have some other midfield targets of the same ilk, but more experienced.

Given that KM likes to overload the bench with attackers, him playing three positions will probably help him get on the bench

This is my thinking - too lightweight. We struggled last season against the physicality of some established PL players in the midfield. He'll just get pushed to one side irrespective of his technical ability, which I am not sold on at this level either

Isn't that the opposite of "focusing on where we are"?

We aren't going to be confronted by PL players in midfield.
