| Do the lefties in our fanbase… on 18:35 - Mar 26 with 1464 views | The_Romford_Blue | I’d be p**sed off if he did this with Starmer. The invite, the lunch, the lies. The fact he’s used the club for his own gains. It’s worse that it’s Farage (obviously - the bloke is a racist scumbag) but it’s still a sackable offence even if it was any politician. Or had he invited any person in power tbh. | |

Rupert Lowe is as about far right as it can get in mainstream politics and he certainly has issues with Farage. Probably not for morals but for some sort of ego clash but it supports your statement.

He invited a politician to look round and had lunch with him. Would people be bothered if it was Starmer? Would they want Ashton out then ? I do think this smacks of some mass over reaction on here. Ah yes. Starmer and Farage are totally comparable.

I’m not a “leftie” but would never vote for Reform. This is irrelevant though it’s no longer about politics or even the very unwelcome publicity and damage to our reputation. This is now about his appalling judgement and the lies. He should have gone already, he needs to be gone by tomorrow. [Post edited 26 Mar 18:44]

the problem is he lied to the local press and the fans. could have been starmer, badenoch or david attenborough and the problem would have been the same. even you must realise this, shirley? [Post edited 26 Mar 18:41]

Would there have really been as much outrage had it been anyone else though, I think not. The trouble with someone like Farage I think most of his/Reforms supporters are publicly silent. Starmer for example would’ve had a lot more on his side, publicly.

Ah, is this that classic "the left don't tolerate intolerance so they are actually the intolerant ones" line of thinking? That's some high level IQ logic right there.

I’m just not sure how a chairman of a business can allow said business to be exploited with pictures and propaganda for his own benefit and it not be a sackable offence.

I cannot speak for anyone else, but I am dead against club propping up *any* political party, regardless of my views on the party itself. It is not, and has never been, what the club should be about. The issue isn't about which politics, it is about any politics. The club clearly know this, as they have spent the best part of the week gaslighting their fanbase and outright lying. If the line wasn't crossed before (it was), it certainly has been now.

And that's exactly it. I.couldnt care less about his politics. ME was a prominent Lib Dem, I doubt the Cobbolds were lefties. I've no idea if Ashton is even a reform fan boy, that's his business. But lieing to the fans is unforgivable. Honesty and integrity clearly lacking as well as judgement and competence.

Well said blueoutlook & would certainly be more concerned if Sir Starmer (massive overreaction here) 👍
| Do the lefties in our fanbase… on 18:44 - Mar 26 with 1118 views | SWLondonBlue93 | I shouldn't reply to an obvious troll, but I'm fascinated by the line of thinking where "lefties" have decided we need to get rid of Ashton (why?) so have set up a meeting between him and Farage, hacked Reform UK's socials so everyone knows Farage visited the club, forced the club to lie about what happened, and then drip-fed details to The Athletic. That would be quite the scheme. | | | |
