Starmer quitting as an MP now he has his PM pension 18:37 - Sep 1 with 8699 viewsRIPbobby

Makes you sick that he does not see out his term and causes another £200k+ bi election. Total scum. Clearly did not care for the union. Takes the money and runs.

Not approving of a bi (sic) election is a bit homophobic in my view.

Are you suggesting it is good that he is allowed to call a bi election because he cant be bothered to see out his term. A bit like what that clown Farage did. They are all scum bags and you lot dance like marionettes to whatever tune they play. You must learn to stand up for what you believe in.

Farage didn't resign because he couldn't be bothered to see out his term.

He resigned because he wanted a by-election as a popularity contest.

I think if you took your emotions out of it, and tried to look at it objectively, you would say that anybody who was publicly demoted from a high profile job should have the right to choose to find different employment.

Just because it's Keir Starmer, and you don't like him, shouldn't change that. If anything, you should be delighted that he has gone.

When he stood at the last General Election he was the Leader of the Labour Party. He had every intention of representing the constituency for the full term. Something very big has changed since then. He is allowed to take a different direction as a result.

Wait, Farage called a by-election because he didn't want to see out his term? Must have missed that when he got re-elected.

Also quite funny you think everyone else to be the puppets when you're the one parroting nonsense. The only people served by simplistic nonsense that all politicians are corrupt, is populists and the actually corrupt.

Starmer was a bloomin' good Lawyer before he became an MP.
He was the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and head of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).
I would argue he was a much better lawyer than a politician and from your OP you don't think much of him as an MP either.
Not much use as a back bench MP.

Absurd comment. Been doing it 11 years, including the toughest and most pressured job in the land. Has been pushed into stepping down from that job and quite understandably has decided he wants to call it a day as an mp.

Hardly a cynical move.

Yes - it looks like he was correct. 11 years, with a far lower income than he would have had as a QC.

Only stopping, quite reasonably, having left the top job.

Very much OTT language but it's disappointing that Starmer isn't seeing out his term as a member of Parliament. We are only a couple of years away from a General Election.

Rishi Sunak and Theresa May both stayed on as MP's after losing the job as PM, and in fact stood again at the following election. Cameron and Johnson legged it as soon as possible.

I'd have thought Starner had a sense of public duty similar to the former pair rather than the latter.

Quite.
