Emmanuel Up for Loan
Wednesday, 14th Oct 2015 14:52

Right-back Josh Emmanuel says he would consider a spell out on loan if the right opportunity were to come along.

The 18-year-old Academy product broke into the first-team early in the season and has now made four starts and one sub appearance.

But with Jonny Parr fit again the Londoner, who signed a two-year contract with an option for a further season in August, currently seems less likely to be involved with the senior side and manager Mick McCarthy has suggested he could be sent out for a spell.

“Going out on loan is something I would certainly consider if it was right for me and it was right for the manager,” Emmanuel said in an interview with Saturday’s match programme.

“I know he’s spoken about possibly sending myself and a few of the young lads out on loan for some more competitive experience if and when the time is right and, if it’s the right club, then of course I would be more than happy if it’s best for everyone.

“I still live with my parents, so they are always there to keep an eye on me. That might change if I went out on loan and had to look after myself though, I’m not sure who would do my cooking and cleaning!”

Speaking about Emmanuel recently, McCarthy said: “He might not get a game now because I’ve got Chambo, I’ve got Jonny Parr, who is fit, so we may get him some football on a loan deal. But we’ll wait and see.”

Town currently have three players out on loan, Josh Yorwerth at Crawley, Matt Clarke at Portsmouth and Cameron Stewart at Doncaster.

I'd rather he were to be given the chance, but if he's not going to anytime soon, a month out on loan is a good move.

I'm guessing until MM calls him by a nickname, Emmanuel won't get into the first team.

MattinLondon - what are you thinking? Something along the lines of...

Emo, Emms, Manuel?

FFS!!!!

We haven't had a proper RB since David Wright was released by RK.

When are we going to realise that the weakness in our defence is directly related to playing our captain(both Carlos and Chambers) out of posirion?

Josh showed maturity and promise , but this clearly isn't recognised anymore here.

Hope he gets loaned to a club that plays proper football; not that that will help him much when he gets back here.

And if Knudsen gets an injury, and Chambers continues his bad form, what then?

Bluetone added 15:53 - Oct 14
@Garv there's always Tabb he's different class he can play anywhere.

Dont understand this, apart from the debacle against Brighton (Chambers wouldve fared equally as bad) when Lua Lua was on fire, he has looked fine. Played well in the CC rounds.
I would play him at RB with Parr as cover but we know this will never happen.

Calm down people. This should be seen as positive news. He's still very green, and playing regular football down the league somewhere should help develop him nicely.

Garv we recall him perhaps?

A continuous run of games at Divsion 1 or 2 level would be great for JE's development right now. Hopefully he'll find somebody to do his cooking and cleaning if he does go on loan though.

Jonny Parr should be in our starting XI at full back of course. Left or right side he'd improve us, although RB is the area of greatest concern. Knudsen will improve with games, Chambo however will never fully convince as a full back, in my view.

This is good news, send him out on loan get experience and then who knows what sort of player he'll be when he comes back, one thing he lacked was experience, Certainly has the attributes to be a good player. With a loan spell he can mix this with experience and hopefully we can finally have a right back playing for us.

George Burley had a baptism of football when we were in the top league against top players in the country and he started well and although made mistakes soon learnt from them and progressed quickly. Emmanuel will get better every game, Chambers will not. CavendishBlue, agreed not had a right full back since David Wright and we're no nearer getting one now as the Captain in the right back role will not be dropped.

@Cloddyseedbed I agree but he did have Messrs Beattie and Hunter to give him protection and help him through.

I'm not surprised. He clearly isn't ready for regular championship football. However, as others point out, yet again we seem to have very few defensive options. Disappointing.

Chambers will be right back!!!! as Mick will stick with his favoured unbalanced 2 in the middle so if I were you young man go out on loan and play some football instead of sitting on the sidelines and holding your head in your hands(as we supporters do) at the continued howlers the skipper makes every game

I don't particularly like Chambers at right-back but you have to remember it was Josh who had an absolute mare against Brighton, not Chambers.
Chambers actually quietened LuaLua in the second half.
I'm not knocking Josh but he's a long way off regular championship football. A League One or League Two loan would be beneficial for all.
Chambers is clearly not the long-term answer at right-back but right now the only realistic alternative is Parr and he can't stay fit.
The problem is the whole team is making errors at the moment but some fans like a scapegoat for everything. Tommy Smith last season, Luke Chambers this season.
If we're being honest, though, Berra has been the worst defender this season.
My biggest worry is not the defence but the protection it gets.
Douglas isn't mobile enough and that has exposed Skuse.
Bru has got to play.

It's the muppet in charge that needs to go out on loan permanently!

I'm thinking his MM nickname will be Mani...an abbreviation of his surname.

I'll be very surprised if there is any radical changes on Saturday.

Going out on loan is exactly what he needs. He's too green for game after game in the Championship. Brighton took him spartan and too many games like that can shatter a youngsters confidence. It's too much pressure which he doesn't need right now. He needs to learn his trade first and since there is flock all reserve games of a decent level, going out on loan is the ONLY way forward for the youngsters. Yet again all thanks to sky affect on our game in the UK.

So I hope you've told ITFC to go and take a look at him and if he's that good, try to sign him.

Tractorshark: you say Chambers is the only alternative at RB if Parr isn't fit. But what about Malarcyzk? Didn't do a lot wrong against Man U, and would surely adapt. Have we forgotten him?
