Samuelsen's Father Not Confirming Nor Denying Town Interest
Tuesday, 23rd Aug 2016 21:31

West Ham winger Martin Samuelsen’s father has refused to confirm nor deny whether the Blues are interested in his son, but says there are “interesting clubs” keen on the 19-year-old, who Blues boss Mick McCarthy and his assistant Terry Connor watched in action for the Hammers' U23s last night.

"I cannot confirm nor deny whether Ipswich are interested,” Frode Samuelsen told TV 2.

“I got to hear that they looked at Martin, but whether they are interested beyond that I can neither confirm nor deny.”

He says his son has two options, either to go out on loan before next Wednesday's deadline or remain at West Ham.

"We know that there are interesting clubs that are interested and it's about taking a decision regarding a loan,” Samuelsen Snr added. “He has another week to decide whether there will be a loan.”

Earlier this afternoon the former Peterborough loanee signed a new four-year contract with West Ham and said he could be interested in another loan spell.

“This season, I think it’s either going to be another loan or first team football for me at West Ham,” he told the official West Ham website.

“I really enjoyed my time at Peterborough United last season and to have another spell playing good football on loan somewhere would be great.

“Both options would be good for me, but one is tougher to achieve than the other! Whatever happens for me this year, I’ll go into it 100 per cent committed. My long-term goal is to get into the West Ham first team XI.”

Earlier reports from Norway linked Samuelsen with a half-season loan with the Blues with the possibility of an extension to the end of the campaign, TWTD having revealed the Blues' interest in the Norwegian international yesterday.

Town boss McCarthy has said he is "trying to get a couple more in" before the transfer window closes next week, additions he expected would be loans or free agents.

Released former Rotherham frontman Leon Best is currently on trial with the Blues and scored for the U23s in yesterday’s 3-2 defeat to Birmingham at Playford Road.

Anyone got a thesaurus, to see if there are many other options to 'interest', 'interesting' or
'Interested'? Just interested to know, of course...

Career move! Would look a lot better in a blue shirt than that thing he's wearing at the moment.

Sindre... in the main when people moan, its because they care! Most of my moaning has been because of playing his mates playing people out of position not attempting to win the fans over by giving us a cup run the most boring and at times the most awful football ever played at Portman. Its an expensive product that needs to improve! Supporting blindly and never moaning is never going to take the team forward.

But i believe in credit where credit is due also! A better performance last sunday which i enjoyed more than most of what i witnessed last season.

Getting back on subject, this young guy looks very exciting, only fear is we dont tend to sign players we are linked with! Hope this signing happens!

I agree with Dissboyitfc comments. The term "moaners" is thrown out a lot on this site & is generally used to try & stop people expressing their opinion by negatively painting them as something other than real fans, without attempting to address the points they are making.
There may be a small number of actual moaners who have nothing to say other than complaining, but like Dissboyitfc, the vast majority who are labelled as such are committed Ipswich fans who love the club, spend much of their hard earned money on the club, want nothing but the best for the club & highlight the problems that they witness with how the club is being managed - which is exactly what boards like this are for.
There fact the MM is trying to play a more passing game this season, has looked to address the balance issue at centre half & has actual been prepared to invest modest fees for a couple of young players with potential to do well & generate a decent sell on fee if sold would suggest that a lot of things said by these moaners over the last few years have been exactly right.
I like the sound of Samuelsen aswell, so hopefully this happens.

If you can't moan on here, where can you?! Saves moaning to family and friends (although j do that as well!)

In my opinion it is not the moaning that creates the frustration amongst mature and well balanced supporters of ITFC it is the sometimes disgusting castigation of individuals who play for the club.
These players are young men and and whilst they earn a good living the awful belittling of them is way beyond anything normal that individuals would say to each other in normal every day speak, and that frankly is where the problem lies, if you do not use that type of language in your day to day life don't use it when you can hide behind a user name.

It's never a good thing when the father gets involved in being a player's spokesman.

Dissboyitfc,A very good post indeed and I agree with you 110%.In fact I told myself the other day I would not post on here again as I have over the past 2/3months received some rather nasty emails that were rather personal, having said that why should I not voice my opinion from time to time as I am a season ticket holder and therefore in one way or another contribute to the running of the club.
At times I have not always agreed with the style of play instigated by MM nor some of his signings and I have expressed this,BUT I do feel now he is trying to develope a different style, and with the signing and loans of younger players things will improve.I feel the Norwich match was a good example of commitment and had the ref been on the ball"so to speak "we should have won the match,so with that iv'e said my piece. And once again well said Dissboyitfc.

Samuelsen maybe in the balance. But a deputy for murph seems to be micks main target . Leon Best in pole position for that role at the moment

Just gonna throw my opinion into the mix..

Fed up of people calling us moaners, when we follow the club through thick and fin and we're entitled to moan, especially when manger's don't play players in their right position and continue to be stubborn as **** and not change a losing team! Not to mention not getting a right back when every town fan knows that is our weak spot, but not the man who chooses the team!!

iaintaylorx added 10:15 - Aug 24
.. just adding, we all know Mick has done a phenominal job, getting us in and around the playoffs with a team that cost us 10k, but again, his stubbornness and horrible football comes down to the moans.

People on here mark me done all the time but my reasons for negativity are simple.
Ipswich need a RB surely anyone realises who sees other sides RBs Chambers is not a RB he is a central defender Mr McCarthy is probably the only one who does not think that way.
We need a striker as Murphy and Sears have not scored this season 6 games in.
I would like to see Teddy Bishop playing and Andre Dozzell not a another loan player.
McCarthy only picks his favourites so we can sign who we like he will play Skuse and Douglas so that leaves people like Bishop either playing on the wing or playing in a three so where does that leave players like Grant who does look class.
So please believe I am a town supporter and have been for years I played for the club a long time ago but I despair at what I have to watch week in week out.
I am not an Evans fan or McCarthy I feel the sooner they both leave the club the better.
So do not accuse me of not caring

I see Bradley Dack scored again last night for Gillingham. A goal scoring midfielder like him or Alex Gilbey and George Moncur ex Colchester United surely was worth a punt I'm the summer? NO AMBITION MM OR ME

BlueNomad added 10:54 - Aug 24
Not sure you have been accused of not caring. It is the case that some people moan before anything has happened or is still at the rumour stage. Webster, Ward and Connor are talented young footballers not known for playing hoofball. Despite all this some people have even found the prospective loan of Samuelson something to complain about, moan about MM, our style of play, lack of ambition etc. It can't be good for their well-being!

Having been a coach myself for many years I feel there is a subtle difference between moaning and constructive criticism. Some people appear to enjoy the former with no positive suggestions re way forward. Before being negative just assess the situation:would Emmanuel have coped at right back on Sunday, what's our best formation re midfield/up front etc?I personally think that a couple of additions are required to benefit the squad and offer competition for places.Certainly need support up top to help Murphy.

I hear you on the RB situation Poldark! For some reason, manager after manager insists on sticking with some ridiculous notion that a centre half or midfielder does a better job. Roy Keane got rid of David Wright and played Tom Eastman there. TOM EASTMAN!! Then Edwards.

We all slated Keane and rightly so, but is playing Chambers there for 3 seasons really much better? Granted he's better than Eastman but still.

Stearman. Did a great job but not a natural right back. Have we not had a natural, experienced right back since Wright? Are we still feeling the hand of the Dark Lord???

We should be trying to sign this guy at all costs. The only way the ball moves forward up the pitch is down the flanks, not the middle so this guy will give us the edge.

I think I am dreaming though because even if this guy is talented, he won't be able to replace "Dougie"

Agree with lots on here re moaning. Having an opinion on the club we love is not moaning. Constantly criticising even when not warranted - like some of what was said after Sunday - is.

I must admit re goalscoring midfielder I thought that Ward was in the category..

Chambers is probably my favourite player because of his commitment but he is not a right-back

Hope EADT is right & we get Samuelson & Armstrong.

Seasider added 19:17 - Aug 24
I do hope we get this young man;but unfortunately we on here have no say in the matter.
Rabbit have marked you up;but feel that Mr McCarthy does not set a very good example with his colourful language, and remarks about critical supporters.

Bluehook-think dad was responding to question;but feel that parents in the main are better than agents, who I feel don't always make decisions,or give advice that is in the best interests of the player,as their main concern is their money.

Brownie agree but did you notice in the EADT report it also said 'McCarthy is weighing up whether Samuelson would provide the necessary work he demands from his players"

This is why Mccarthy's teams in the main consists of workhorses, and could explain why he hasn't got us promoted.
