Time for a new badge? 12:44 - Jul 10 with 8150 viewsMonkey

I was having this conversation with someone yesterday and we decided we wouldn't be against a badge redesign for the club. As much as i love our badge and the uniqueness of it i do feel its very dated to look at and would be good to modernise.

Obviously we dont want a Leeds debacle where the badge is announced and instantly ridiculed but with the correct designers and input it could be a worthwhile task in my opinion.

Having said that i know also some fans are true traditionalists and will never want the badge changed but to me it looks dated and so reflects that impression on to the club as a whole.

Not sure what a new badge would achieve.

It's been frequently redesigned over the years - and for the better in most cases.

I'd be interested to see some design ideas at least.

Erm, I wouldn't mind mixing it up a bit, maybe changing the general shape, perhaps some of the secondary colours. Why not! As long as the Suffolk Punch and 'Ipswich Town Football Club' stays on there, why not...

I wouldn't mind just swapping the red back to yellow.
Never been that keen on too much red in the clubs colours.

Our glory days were with the yellow badge. We had no connection with red when the badge was changed in 1995 other than it appearing slightly on a couple of kits. If someone on here who can use Photoshop can change the red part for the same yellow as the old badge and stick a 1px blue border round that like the old badge it will immediately look better. If you took this, put that yellow on it and made the yellow / red part thinner, it would look the business I guarantee. I prefer Ipswich Town then Football Club to the old Ipswich then Town FC. The shape of the outline and the colour is all that needs to be tweeked.

I love the current badge. It doesn't look dated at all.

Think about how divisive new kits are. Changing the badge is asking for trouble.

Or it's reconnecting with supporters by going back to the blue, white and yellow that was always part of our glory years before it was changed without consultation with the fans to a colour that has nothing to do with us.

I didn't like it when it was introduced and have never really grown to like it. Just tolerated it. The old badge needed to be modernised though and the new one doesn't look out of date. But I would prefer to see a yellow version of what we have now.

Even if the majority of fans agreed to a new badge, who would pay for the changes to signage etc? Assuming the answer is Evans, who sticks as little as possible into the club, would you prefer his funding to go towards the player budget, or a new badge?

I think you're right.
I like the badge in general, although never saw the point of the red, or the yellow, but it could do with a freshening up.

To make it more modern, the horse needs 'freeing' from the shield.
Suffolk Punch over a wavy line with ipswich town fc
blue and white
no red/yellow required

There are enough talented people on here to get some great designs.

I always think Derby's badge is the best.
It's simple and stands out a mile.

I'd love to see us have something like this....*
