Villa on Saturday 14:01 - Jan 22 with 5685 viewsSuperfrans

We do have a chance, don't we? They haven't won at home since the end of November, 7 games ago.

I'm not sure why a few people seem to be so much less confident than we were vs Blackburn, who have a much better home record.

Let's be honest, we are the ideal team to play when other teams are having a cr*p run.

Prime example was Bristol City at home where they hadn't scored for 5 away games (IIRC), yet rocked up to PR and scored 3 with relative ease.

2-0 Villa win, unfortunately.

I actually think we'll score saturday, the only downside is every time we score, we're almost due another goal at the other end.

3-1

Villa are our bogey team. We have a horrendous record against them.

2 wins there in the last 25 years....

That's from just eight matches, tho. Still not great, but doesn't sound quite so bad as '25 years'. Our most recent win was the time before last.

Doesn't matter who we are playing. We don't score away from home...……. haha

Villa score quite a few goals so I'll be different and go 3-0...……..

and we beat them three times in 1980/81.
and it was them that we beat on the day that we became Champions Of England in 1962.

I have several good memories of us playing them.

This is basically what Joe was saying yesterday. Any other team in our position would be so pessimistic, yet we all still believe we're gonna get something out of these games despite having not even scored away from home in nearly 3 months.

I'm the same, I've always known us to be able to string together a few wins here and there, so I still believe, stupidly, that we can survive.

However, I think it'll be similar to Blackburn, I'm afraid. Be in the game, then concede and crumble.

You've seen our set plays, more chance that it will hit the first defender and they will score on the counter attack.

We are pony away from home and will lose 2-0.... again.

Definitely. Wigan, who are dreadful, rocked up there like two weeks ago and battered them 3-0. We can do it. Blackburn are efficient and resilient and was always going to be a tough ask. This is going to be tough too, but they can be got at.

Judge free kick, Collins, boom early lead.

Don't want to dwell on what might happen after.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

A remote chance. However, logically I think Villa are a better side than Blackburn, have more quality in their squad and looked what happened at Ewood Park on Saturday. Can see it being 2 or 3-0 to the Villains.

Thanks. Glad someone is at least hopeful.

I guess my point is that we went to Blackburn with a lot of people thinking we could get something from the game. I don't really see this Saturday as any different.

Vs Blackburn, we were in it for an hour and could have had a goal first half when Keane rounded their keeper. We need to stay in it for an hour again this Saturday and hope that, this time, we can hold out and maybe sneak something in the last 10 minutes.

Feels like there's a chance there to me, if we find Villa in the right mood...

I think the pertinent question is who among us expected us to win at Swansea this season?

Villa are in rubbish form at home and, whilst they should win, it's the sort of game to frustrate them and snatch something on the break. We've seen it enough times in reverse at PR.

Sorry to be pedantic but Wigan beat Villa at the DW Stadium and not at Villa Park.

Interesting to see Lambert and Skuse both starting to talk about time running out, we can only hope that urgency gets into our play. But not this Saturday, I fear. 2-0 Villa, I may even put money on it.

I am normally quite glass half full. Been a long year in football already!!

Just cant recall a time where I felt quite like this about the club. PL has revitalised my interest and excitement (to some degree), if PH was still in charge i think my (ST) seat would be gathering dust by now.

Desperate times, desperate measures. To get enough wins we must confuse the feck out of them with something avant-garde. 1-6-3 is my suggestion.

Our away form is just shocking though. We aren't bad enough to be summarily thrashed by anyone but simply aren't good enough to take advantage of our moments in games or mount any response when we go behind. If we stay up it will be down to a big uptick in home form.

Villa fans get restless too, and on a different day, like you say Keane scores early and it's a different game.

If they don't turn up, i think it's achievable, and our new signings are edging closer to full fitness. This will be a game for Huws, too, i would've thought.
