I'm expecting Harrison to do very well. He's my dark horse for top scorer. I expect a lot of rewriting of history this time next year from people claiming they didn't want him to go.

Doesn’t really make much sense considering Harrison cost more than Norwood.

How expensive was Norwood again....?

"Find a player on top form, throw huge sums of money at him and go from there. It’s essentially what Ipswich have done with Norwood, albeit not having to pay a transfer fee."

Ipswich have spent lots of money on Norwood albeit they spent nothing.

Surely Norwood's the cheaper option with no fee and I presume his wage isn't more than Harrison's, considering we signed him as a League One club and Harrison as a Championshop player? An appalingly written article.

Saying that I think we made a mistake letting Harrison go - particularly if we're not bringing in another striker.

‘The Verdict

The easy way to success is to buy it. Find a player on top form, throw huge sums of money at him and go from there. It’s essentially what Ipswich have done with Norwood, albeit not having to pay a transfer fee.’

Unless I'm missing something Jackett makes no reference to Norwood, the author seems to have added that. I think I read the piece where the quotes originally came from earlier and it didn't mention Norwood.

"...he could be a good investment".

Looks like Jackett has taken a punt. Hardly fills me with confidence if I were Pompey or gives me any sense of regret at his departure.

I'd say the fact they've tracked him through multiple windows and not stopped until they got him is quite an endorsement.

This did make me laugh. When he paid a fee for Harrison.

Surely Norwood isn't on much more wages than Harrison as well? (Though I don't really know, just speculating)

Not quite true. If they had been that dedicated to getting him they'd have stumped up £750k last season. Jackett loves a bargain and he sees this as a punt worth taking.

I think he'll do well there and be appreciated by the Pompey faithful. As Jackett says, he suits that system. Give him regular games and he'll give them a decent return I'm sure.

It's a shame it came to one needing to be offloaded to bring in Norwood given our derth of strikers. Feels like another ME purse string tightening exercise to me.

How do you know that's the case? I don't think Lambert esepciallly rates Harrison and in Norwood he'd signed a fairly similar player but with a better goalscoring record. When a bid came in PL was happy to sell; that said when we signed Norwood there was no guarantee we would sell any of our strikers.
