Hallelujah Marcus - TECHNICAL TECHNICAL TECHNICAL 08:35 - Jan 10 with 1588 views | unstableblue | Great messaging and direction from Marcus. And obviously a veiled criticism of previous managers, who had styles that were not sustainable as a product to get fans through the turnstiles, but did bolster Marcus' lack of investment! However, has he chosen the right manager to implement the technical approach? I do think Paul does not want to play "a more physical, direct approach". But does he have the acumen to play the style of football we want and being played by the likes of Oxford? Ask me at Oxford after 90mins on Tuesday! Must beat Accrington! “I believe we will have a really exciting footballing team over the next five years,” Evans writes. “I mention the term ‘footballing team’ as I indicated 18 months ago that to get to where we all eventually want to be, we need to be a footballing team. “In my first years as an owner, I believed a more physical, direct approach was the way to move forward. Football has changed though. Clubs in the Championship and definitely in the Premier League are playing a much more TECHNICAL game now. “I feel there is also a duty to the supporters that we play in an entertaining manner. I want to enjoy watching the team play. I’m sure the fans do. ------ The stakes are highest at first-team level of course and there will always be a plan B, plan C on how to win a football match but the foundations of how Ipswich Town will play - while I’m owner - will be around the TECHNICAL approach - and that desire to play a brand of football that entertains supporters. “I think we have played that way for much of the time Paul has been here. Perhaps we have dropped off a bit over the last month or so and this league is more physical in style than the Championship but having been party to the different approaches I can see that a more TECHNICAL playing style is more complex than developing a direct approach. It needs more time for everyone in the squad to feed off each other

Hallelujah Marcus - TECHNICAL TECHNICAL TECHNICAL on 09:18 - Jan 10 with 444 views | DanTheMan | This is the same nonsense that everyone jizzed themselves over when he did a really tame interview. In fact I remember about three of us saying that it's all PR and getting promptly shat on by most. I'm glad people are waking up to it now.

Hallelujah Marcus - TECHNICAL TECHNICAL TECHNICAL on 09:04 - Jan 10 by unstableblue | So you think the Chairman of our Football club just used a 'made-up descriptor' as a key point in his message to his club' fan base. We really are screwed. Note: the FA use the term technical as a key definition in describing the higher levels of their Coaching Programme |
No, I’m saying he used a term which is basically a buzzword in football but ultimately meaningless as it means different things to different people Looking at the FA coaching definitions these aren’t any clearer, for example ‘Advanced Technical Practice’ is described as follows: Advanced Technical Practice A technical practice designed specifically to introduce new and innovative technical elements Or A practice to enhance and extend existing technical competencies relating to playing positions, roles, responsibilities and operational circumstances. Or in other words, complete waffle that 10 different people would take to mean 10 different things ‘We really are screwed’ - have you completely missed the last 9 or so years??

That's EXACTLY what I think. It's like listening to Ole at Man U go on about young players, need time to change the course, need more money for players blah blah blah.

Sensed a similar thing in O'Neill's comments the other week too. We are being softened for a prolonged spell in L1. It really can't happen.

I don't want that, but would accept it if we were trying to properly implement something with the associated teething problems But we aren't, we are just muddling through to that point - you can't build in this league because will lose your best players every season. | Assumption is to make an ass out of you and me.
Those who assume they know you, when they don't are just guessing.
Those who assume and insist they know are daft and in denial.
Those who assume, insist, and deny the truth are plain stupid.
Those who assume, insist, deny the truth and tell YOU they know you (when they don't) have an IQ in the range of 35-49.

Lambert is talking crap there. The Championship is massively stronger now relative to League 1. Most League 1 sides going up now face a huge struggle to stay up and as I've pointed out before, of the last 6 sides related from the Championship before us, 5 made the top 6 in League 1 and 4 got promoted straight back. He's trying to get the excuses in but they won't wash. This is a poor league, certainly compared to the Championship, and we have a squad more than good enough to get out of it.

John Beck described his approach as technical.

Hallelujah Marcus - TECHNICAL TECHNICAL TECHNICAL on 08:47 - Jan 10 by unstableblue | Agree - some promise of a technical approach and a style we can all get behind. But its only in 45mins blasts and its only in 50% of games at best. But there have been moments. Just not for about 15 games! |
Can a 45 minute blast make up for the technical hoofing in the other 45?

Agreed Joe. But an organisation needs to set the direction; being more technical and entertaining is our future, CORRECT. Has Marcus funding the project effectively, probably not? has he chosen the right manager to meet the strategy - jury is definitely out. Marcus' action are funding and appointments, and its currently failing - so completely agree with you. God I hope we beat Accrington and Oxford. The latter going to be very hard, I'll be there - hoping for the best!!!

Hallelujah Marcus - TECHNICAL TECHNICAL TECHNICAL on 11:05 - Jan 10 with 265 views | haynes_toe1 | This is some sort of sick joke from ME, it has to be. We want to play the 'modern premier league technical style of football'. Well, I can only assume he means split CB's, passing it out from the back, etc etc. In which case, why have you just given a 5 year contract to a Manager who isn't representative of that style of football and hasn't been throughout his entire managerial career? He was hugely successful at Norwich but they were also in the top 3 in the Prem for long balls played, and similarly in the championship. It's not his style; the prem style is predominantly a continental style which has been backed-up if you like by Guardiola coming over and implementing his game. Some bloke from Scotland who gets us to punt long balls to Norwood game after game isn't going to do that.

When KVY was in the team, we showed more threat. We need pace to break the lines. Or its too sideways. Bishop is key.

Lambert seems to lack attacking guile... on 09:16 - Jan 10 by Herbivore | Disagree. We have lots of the ball because teams sit off us, especially at home, and we pass it across the back four a fair bit, usually before launching it aimlessly. I've seen our midfield being ineffectual far more than I've seen it genuinely bossing a game. At home I can only really think of Sunderland first half, Wimbledon second half, and Tranmere second half where we've really looked dominant and bossed the midfield. |
We'll have to sit on the fence on that one. I'd argue at home you could throw extended periods of the Rovers and Blackpool games and away we've dominated a few for large periods Bolton (obviously), Coventry, Southend, MK Dons, Gillingham all stand out. Christ. What a list of shi*e teams to roll off... I think all the pieces of the puzzle are there. Just needs drilling and executing now. Fingers crossed for a settled side and system with Sears and Bish making an impact tomorrow.
