My reason for referring to it as odious is largely due to the Jimmy Seville scandal. (See the first link i provided in my response to Dyland)
As I have stated in other replies there is the odd decent programme on the BBC, Line of Duty is rather good, desert island discs as you mentioned. As for MOTD, sky upload highlights of all the premier league matches to YouTube early Saturday and Sunday evening, and don't get me started on Gary lineker's salary! Not just old jug ears either most of their presenters are massively over paid. The amount of presenters & pundits they use to cover big events like the Olympics & World cup is rediculous, there is just no need and it is such a waste of money.
If people like the BBC, believe it provides good value for money and are willing to pay the TV licence that's fine but I won't be.

This as an organisation that turned a blind eye to the abuse suffered by many children at the hands of Jimmy Saville & Stuart Hall. It' news reporting is completely biased, it's more opinion dressed up as fact. Doesn't even try to hide it's left wing & remainder bias even though it is supposed to be politically neutral. That horrible histories documentary that they chose to re show again on the day we left the EU this time fronted by Nish Kumar was a disgrace, factually incorrect and deliberately misleading. Yes there is the odd decent program but they are few and far between. They should introduce a subscription service so If people who like the BBC like yourself wish to go fund it & pay for their services then fine but nobody should be forced to pay.
If it were remain biased it wouldn’t have clipped up the footage of that Brexit lady spouting factually incorrect nonsense and shared it on social media in the name of “ balance”
Whilst I like the BBC, I do think it’s quest for balance has resulted in a lot of false equivalence and the failure to distinguish facts from fiction.

Yep, if they really are this insidious, omnipotent, malevolent left wing force then they’re really not doing a very good job of it.

Maybe it is because we have now actually left the EU, so the BBC continuing with the remain bias would be pretty pointless. The terms Brexit and Remain are meaningless now. It's time to move on.

I don't watch the Mash Report and to me it's aimed at a young audience anyway.
But there's more than one programme on that there BBC so it's ok.
There's also more than one channel - you should scroll down a bit.
You seem to be basing your opinion on not really using the service and just disliking one or two aspects.
TV's channel BBC4 is great, so is the kids' stuff.
The website is informative and full of interesting snippets if you care to look.
BBC Radio is still up there with the best.

Anyone slating the BBC should be forced to watch a week of US television network content.

So you’re banging on with your perceived remainer bias of the bbc, and then telling everyone else to stop using the terms brexit and remain.

Only it is not 'moving on' is it ?
In fact is is falling apart quicker than an MFI table with an elephant sat on it. Even the lastest about immigration was ripped apart within hours, and continues to do so.
The UK is still paying into the EU (another 32bn to go)
still trades under EU schedules and will continue to do so for many more years.
now has had to accept a customes border within it's sovereign territory....overseen by the EU.
will have to agree to EU standards on food safety, enviromental protection and employees rights or face costly trade tariffis.
Perhaps you could remind us all what you 'won' ?

Good one mate.
The BBC's news reporting in general is biased, the whole Brexit debate was just one example. Now we have left the EU it might not be as bad. At best the BBC massages the truth at worst it lies. To be honest I would argue this about the mainstream media in general not just the BBC. I am not a fan of MSM. If you or anyone bothers to watch the Robin Aiken interview that I provided a link for earlier you might view the BBC somewhat differently.

I agree we need to move on, but you’re the one who accused it of having “ remain bias” in the first place.

It was just one reason for my dislike of the BBC, there were others, such as the Jimmy Saville scandal, it's news reporting in general, the obscene amount it pays for so called 'talent'. It is you and others who seem to be obsessed with Brexit & remain not me. Look at that Harry10 for example.
Oh and btw I voted remain.

You’re just quoting a common argument commonly repeated by right leaning commentators and circulated in Brexiteer circles. The bias of the BBC depends who’s making the programmes. QT notoriously favoured the leave argument, even at a time when it wasn’t even a thing. Their false equivalence blew up at one point and became a talking point (along with climate change). Farage the only MEP on QT, for example. And on it pretty much more than anyone else. It’s got an audience arranger(?) who’s known to recruit UKIP/BP activists (sometimes the same one, posing as different people in different episodes).
I’m not convinced in QT’s case it was an attempt to change the argument; it may have simply been for good TV (Farage and frothing activists do make good TV). I’m not sure. Whichever, the effect is the same.
Then there’s the Today Programme and Humphrys giving leave politicians a completely free ride, allowing them to spew lies unchallenged. Belatedly that changed, but then the Tories had a huff and stormed off after losing their friendly host.
There are enough senior staff in news/current affair programmes with a right leaning bent and/or Tory links: Andrew Neil is the obvious one. In fairness he does a decent job of holding everyone to account on screen. His leanings are very obvious though through his writings in the Spectator and on social media.
Nick Robinson was there (once had a senior Young Conservative’s role), and his political editor/producer(?) went on to be an advisor to George Osborne. Kuenssberg would be all over Boris like a rash if she could be. Robbie Gibb was editor for political programming before joining May as her head of press.
So it’s simply lazy regurgitation of smears to say the BBC are lefties/liberals/remainders. They’ve always been attacked by certain elements of the right wing press, and especially the Murdoch empire because they see a respected national broadcaster as a threat to their market position.

Is that 100% def info? I'm not up to date on these matters.
If we're forced to comply with those standards, I for one will be delighted.

I love all the interesting stuff but can't bear to watch the light stuff or anything where the presenter is on screen more than 50% of the time. What's wrong with voiceovers? The 'walk towards the camera looking sincere (smug)' malarkey.
And WHY do we need to see the reporter in front of the action as it's happening live? I think they did this for a 100m race once. Utter madness.
I do enjoy Strictly & things like the gardening progs which they are superb at, esp the 4 days coverage of Chelsea. Living in Yorks I don't have a bat in hell's chance of being able to afford it or get down there. Also minority sports on red button, equestrian etc.
At £154.50 a *year* for the licence, it's amazing value. Heard one geezer on R5 (!) say he pays £120 a *month* for Netflix or something, & that was just for that one channel's TV alone.
I never noticed the "intrusive reporter" thing before, but probably will now, dammit!!

To paraphrase a quote from someone I can't remember- "It's not the job of the BBC to preside over a debate on if it's raining or not, giving equal credence to each argument. Their job should be to open the bloody window and tell us who's telling the truth."
