The line up didn't fill me with hope, but I'm glad I've been out and not bothered with it. Pre-season is always held onto by too many people desperate to give it meaning.
It also sounds like we are going into the season using the cup games as extra friendlies to try and get us up to speed which is more worrying. |
That’s the bit for me. Bristol Rovers next week should be as close to the strongest XI as possible but you can’t help but worry it’ll be used to ‘give players minutes’.
And as for spending all pre-season trying to be a pound shop Pep then smacking the ball long as soon as we get 2 metre peter on the pitch, well... |  |

I'm sure the same purists will be enraged yet again.
Realistically we should dominate this league because of the ridiculous depth we still have. The subs we can make to see out or change a game are beyond 15 or more teams easily. To think we might go up in spite of Lambert when he got it so wrong last season is laughable.

This is a worrying performance though even with a weaker side.

As for a serious reply, Cambridge are playing their best 11 which will likely be the starting 11 proper in a couple of weeks. Our team is a mix of players who have barely played, and is nowhere near our starting 11. |

No no not necessarily disagreeing, but as aren’t at the game, and the commentary isn’t the best from BBC Cambridgeshire, naturally will favour their side, can’t read too much into it
Today’s a team that hasn’t played a lot of football, individually or collectively, today was about get minutes for certain players, a little more dysfunctional than the rest of pre season granted, but that is a team as said that hasn’t played much football.

Aah, I think we're at cross purposes. I agree with you re: today but also pre-season games generally.
As I said in another thread, Lambert's actual record is poor enough over 20-odd months of official fixtures to be criticised. There's no need to over-analyse (and get agitated about) a mixed bag of pre-season results and performances.
