With Drinan and Mcgavin seemingly sticking around we’ve got too many players as it is, aside from the cap stuff.

There probably are ways to be cute about getting under it, but carrying as many senior players as we do doesn’t make it easy (if at all possible).

True, would obviously rather see a few more leave before the likes of Jackson or Downes, but unlikely at this stage.

Can only sell what people want to buy - and if Evans wants to recoup a fee for one player it's Jackson for me every day of the week.

I've heard that the Downes interest has fired his camp into life in trying to gt something sorted in case that is what happens

I think our most recent transfer dealing with Bournemouth was one of Evans’ best negotiations since he’s been here! £8m for Mings plus Fraser for a season and Pitman on a free!

I wouldn’t begrudge us selling him for £2m or so... but I’d massively begrudge us selling him and not replacing him!

That is the problem as we would not be able to replace him because of the salary cap !

As in Jackson's camp are trying to get him a move in case we sell Downes and then don't need to sell?

I think it may have focussed their mind in the last week or so.

I don't know what terms on offered deal was, but Jackson earns pretty rubbish money comparatively to what he has achieved from what I hear - he's a lot older than most think and came into the game late, he needs a big contract of back of last season as likely will be his only one in his career

We paid £2.5 million when he hadn't played about L2 level.

Last season he was involved in more goals than pretty much any other player in the league.

Bournemouth need to sharpen their pencil and spend some of that mountain of cash.

They're doing it for exactly that. Offer, player gets unsettled, player hands in transfer request, price gets dropped as player wants out.

They can eff off, player stays unless price is right.

That doesn't tend to happen once players hand in transfer requests. I would say more often than not, a compromise is found.

Thought it was closer to £1.7m?

Either way I would imagine if we get an offer that's getting close to £2m we would have to be tempted by that. I don't dislike him, but he feels the most likely to make way in this system. If it means keeping Downes then it's probably a price worth paying.

I rate Jackson and I think if we used him right he'd be a real asset for us. However, Lambert doesn't seem to see him as a wide forward - which I think would be his best role in a 4-3-3 - and I'm not sure he's up to much in the centre in that system. On that basis a figure of £2m+ wouldn't be the worst business but I'd only really be up for it if we could bring someone else in, even if it's just a decent young player on a season long loan.

I agree. The wide role would suit him better, but I look at who we have there I'd put Sears, Judge and Edwards as better natural options. Then you've got Lankester and Dobra knocking on the door too. If Bournemouth offered £2.5m for Jackson, I think I'd take it.

That's another piss poor offer. What is it with these clubs? Either pay a fair price or go away and stop unsettling our players please.

I would say £2m is a decent opening offer.

We paid £1.6m, he has hardly set League One alight, so not sure he'd hack it at Championship level.

I'd say £2.5m would be enough and give us something to reinvest with a promising youngster (and not pay a huge salary).

RIP Sir Bobby

Judge as a wide forward doesn't do it for me. Drifts too much and lacks any pace on the break, no threat in behind. Edwards is just pretty average and more of a wide midfielder than a wide forward. I'd happily see us be bold and have Sears and Jackson either side of a central striker with Lankester and Dobra pushing them for a place. That said, I don't think Lambert sees that as Jackson's role so if we do get an offer in the region of £2.5m I suspect he'll be gone.

Agree with you on Judge and Edwards. I think if we got close to 2M we will start to have proper discussions with the club willing to buy him, I'd be delighted if we get 2.5M for him.
