Either do a full, severe lockdown or just don't bother, this govt shambles number 3452223445

Poll: Should Muric be dropped?

The levels explained:

1: Think about not going to see your nan, everything else stays open.
2: Thing REALLY hard about not going to see your nan, everything else stays open.
3: REALLY don't go and see your nan, everything else stays open.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

They're not very good at this are they?

That's just the law about 16 year olds being able to drink in a pub isn't it?

What next? People coming out of isolation having to wear L plates?

It stops Tim Martin gobbing off. Whether Wetherspoons serve anything that can be described as a meal is another matter.

It does beg the question what does actually constitute a meal? Can I legally order one bowl of chips and two dozen pints of stella, for example?

If you eat the chips using your common sense, and drink the beer fearlessly, you're OK.

Presumably this is the same Government that doesn't actually publish the scientific logic behind current rules and restrictions?

Madness.

I know that was then, but it could be again..

Or is it the same govt. whose MP's objected to the 10pm curfew at the House of Commons bar.

Why bother with the expense of chips, a packet of scampi fries should do the job!

Its not even that. You can buy alcohol without food apparently.

It is just they are only allowing pubs who serve food to remain open. Which means all the ‘super pubs’ of the likes of Wetherspoons, Revolution etc can remain open as before.

Basically a farce

Not what Boris said in press conference.

Best wait until the full details are in print.

The Mirror and Guardian are saying it will be left to local authorities to implement the details.

Boris isn’t exactly hot on the details is he?

Whatever it is, it is still a farce. Whitty even said in the press conference that these highest measures won’t stop the spread.

Reports are Johnson and his advisers wanted to go further, but local councils objected. Which leaves them nicely open as the next scapegoats

I thought the SAGE guidance on what measures decrease the R was interesting:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-54514387

From the article:

- Close all bars, pubs, cafes and restaurants could reduce R by 0.1-0.2
- Close all indoor gyms and leisure centres could reduce R by up to 0.1
- Closing non-essential retail would have "minimal impact" on transmission
- Stopping people mixing in homes could reduce R by 0.1-0.2
- Working from home reduce R by 0.2-0.4
- Closing all schools could reduce R by 0.2-0.5

In particular interest there is the schools measure, which is apparently potentially the most effective despite them saying that children don't spread it. Not sure how that works.

You can understand them saying secondary schools but primary schools have, as you say, shown that small children are not spreaders, due to their lung capacity.

Children do spread it. They just don’t get as ill themselves.

Schools and University are the ‘super spreader’ locations, but seemingly untouchable.

Uncontrollable too, rule of six impossible to follow for many and then they go home for the weekend.
