I was planning on going in big on Biden at 1.52 but i've lost my nerve.
Likewise. I know my strengths and political betting definitely isn’t one of them. And on that, the smart bet here is no bet. Even if Biden at 1.52 looks a gift of a price.
May have a small bet on Trump to win Pennsylvania if the price is right though. Don’t think Biden saying (lying) what he did about fracking/oil will go down well when Pennsylvania is only beaten by Texas as biggest oil transporters. So on that basis I think he will probably have given trump a reasonable shot at winning Pennsylvania by losing a lot of voters there with those comments. After all.. the turkeys don’t go voting for Christmas.

Trump to win - can't see the mid west willingly accepting Biden.
I've got a horrible feeling he will as well.
Saw an article saying democrats are more like to vote early than Republicans.
God help us all if they get in another 4 years, the platform that would give Trump, his family and like minded people around the world that that form of politics is a route to being successful, getting elected and re-elected.
Albeit, America is a special kind of country.

Cheers for speaking on my behalf :)
The idea that Trump was not going to last very long came from within his own party and those we work with in the US Government. Shockingly, there appears a lot of mis-information coming out of the GOP...
I've never expressed "Surprise" that he would have a good chance. 43%+ of the country will vote for whoever the Republican candidate is. Trump or whoever. I just don't see a path to victory for him this time in the key states he needs to win. He has lost the 'surprise' factor he had in 2016. He is now one of the Washington Elite.
And importantly Biden isn't Clinton.
Someone i work with said that same thing to me early on around him not lasting long and they would force him out.

Biden will win. Dems would have won by much more if they’d fielded a better candidate
This'll be fun... Ok I'll bite.

I don't think there is a better candidate. He might be old and slightly confused at times but he's the obvious choice. He's got the experience and is a chance to roll the clock back to the Obama years.
Obama still has more presence and aura than Trump can ever dream of.

In the last debate when the question person (forget their name.. the mediator type person for debates) asked him directly ‘have you ever said you would ban fracking’. And Biden outright lied and said he’s never said that.
To which there’s literally 10 examples of him saying on video that he would ban fracking. That’ll cost him Pennsylvania in my opinion. No idea what the odds are for that but I’ll definitely have a look before tomorrow

I don’t know anyone specifically as I don’t follow American politics closely but I can’t believe in the whole of America there is no one better than a slightly confused old geezer. That woman going for Vice President would have been better.

Let’s face it.. if Trump wasn’t against Clinton (such a marmite character) the first time round, he’d have been beaten out of sight. He hit the jackpot.
All the democrats had to do this time around was put in a relatively boring but safe choice and they’d have it won. It literally had to be someone who wasn’t controversial and already hated such as a Clinton. Biden was the perfect choice.

Aye. Some progressives may have the arseache that it's not a Bernie type, but I've come to genuinely believe that Biden was the perfect selection for this moment. He's the polar opposite of Trump, and after four crazy years of chaos and insanity dull stableness seems like a cool drink of water.
Add to that Biden's popularity, his genuine decency, and his middle of the road political views Trumps campaign hasn't been able to land a glove on him.
AOC has the right outlook on this IMO.
"Frankly, I think it would be a privilege and it would be a luxury for us to be talking about what we would lobby the next Democratic (president) and how we will push the next Democratic administration."
Get him over the line, and then start exerting influence.

That’s a fair point ... he’s hardly what you’d call inspirational though ...

I really don't think that's true about 2016. Populism was in full swing in the States and much of the world by that point, exacerbated by FOX et al, the underground news media and social media.
Anyone who represented any kind of establishment figure by that point was bound to be painted as such and lose.
I agree that Clinton was a woeful candidate, but I really don't think there was much else anyone could do against the irrationality of the Trump vote.

Agree. I said last time it was the fault of the Democrats for forcing Clinton through when she was so unpopular. Trump didn't win the last election, the Democrats lost it through their arrogance IMO.
It takes 20 minutes to read, but is so worthwhile. Change is coming.
It will be such a significant victory if Mark Kelly can win his seat, and hopefully there are others who can benefit from the funding that their charity has pulled in and cause upsets elsewhere.

Oh I get you, Sorry I wasn't sure what you were referring to. Yeah, that was awkward for him at the time, but I doubt it'll make much difference. It's certainly not the big deal Trump is trying to make it out to be.
He clarified his remarks, and he's right that states like PA need to transition away from dirty energy and that there are well paid job opportunities in doing so.
Also, there's only about 26,000 jobs in PA's oil and gas industries. Philly and it's suburbs, Pittsburgh and it's suburbs, won't have this as a priority. It won't make any difference IMO.
Covid is the thing that is dominating this election.

A lot of people on here don’t really. I have a passing interest but don’t follow it closely, as I’m sure is the case for a lot on here. It’s a relatively light hearted thread to share predictions. For some reason it’s only me you’ve chosen to have a go at ...

I keep saying, the one thing that I personally feel has brought a massive dose of reality to this election, and has really helped to undermine all the populist rhetoric with the undecideds and moderate Republicans is 230,000 deaths from Covid.
Covid is the one thing this election that everyone is worried about (outside of the Trump cult) no matter your economic, racial, or political status.

I wouldn’t say i follow it that closely either (although I did watch the debates and have enjoyed watching the betting market forming and adapting) to be fair but I’d like to think my input is at least worth adding to the discussion.

Those people aren't making confident statements about who should have done what and when though. They seem like they have opinions but they're here to learn.
Like Romford said, Biden was the perfect candidate for this time. Whether it'll be enough or not, time will tell.

Very true. I would certianly be a lot more worried about another Trump victory were covid not in play. Aside from the hardcore, his record on it really is shambolic. Add to that the racial divisions he keenly stoked, I'm not sure how any moderate could vote for him. Maybe they won't come out for Biden, but hopefully a sense of some decency will stop it going to Trump.

Yeah, and if you bothered to read my posts rather than just seeing my name and immediately opening fire you would see that I agreed with that point Romford made.

That's fair enough, but like with Blubbers, when someone knows more they should be allowed to point out when someone is talking a little bollox
It's a bit silly to announce "Democrats should have nominated someone else!" and for the answer to the question "Ok, who?" to be "Uhhh I dunno, I don't follow these things".
