It's not just Amazon, pretty much every major retailor do Black Friday offers.
A lot of people buy the xmas presents this way. Lets face it if you have in mind a present for someone and you have a chance to get it in a cut price deal you would be silly not to.

Here, here. I'm looking for one now and there do seem to be some good deals around based on the prices things were going for in reviews over the last 6 months. My timing is coincidence though (need something to show off stuff on the PS5!) - I wouldn't save things for this time of year as you can often get a reasonable deal at any time of the year.

Indeed. The last 2 years I’ve renewed my Adobe Creative Suite subscription on their Black Friday deal. Without it, the full package that I need would be £48 something a month, but 2 years ago got it for £24 a month, and last year did even better as their advertised Black Friday deal was the same as that, but I’d heard a few people had got a better deal directly, so rang them up and a 40 minute phone call later got me a deal for £16.99 a month!
Given the amount of problems with peoples work, jobs and businesses recently it just feels like its in bad taste (the bigger companies clearly dont care) - it may be better if people spent some money in the local independent stores to help them along.
