He goes on a lot about the restraints in place, the lack of money etc. It's really worrying when you see what we do actually have in the squad compared to our rivals

Paul Lambert seems to feel under a lot less pressure this morning.... on 09:29 - Dec 4 with 2936 views | Herbivore | Nobody at this level spends big money. He's totally delusional. We have a massive squad that is very well paid and put together by him. What a dick.

Paul Lambert seems to feel under a lot less pressure this morning.... on 09:33 - Dec 4 with 2893 views | footers | "Was it nice to get some public backing from Marcus? PL: I don’t worry about things like that." You asked for the public backing, you absolute clown. If the statement and this softly softly presser this morning were meant to calm things down, the club couldn't have got the mood more wrong.

It seems pointless even getting bothered by it all now..... on 09:35 - Dec 4 with 2855 views | Bloots | ....I've lost the will. Maybe we'll get a few players back, scrape a load of close wins against the weaker opposition, a few of the decent teams will beat each other and slip up against against the weak teams and we'll end up stumbling into the play offs somehow. Obviously we'll lose in the end, but some will see it as a success of sorts. We've obviously set our aspirations too high by thinking anything else. What a club.

Paul Lambert seems to feel under a lot less pressure this morning.... on 09:36 - Dec 4 with 2838 views | JammyDodgerrr | Can i ask a serious question: do we know what Lamberts salary is? I genuinely wonder if the pay off for him will be so huge for his four years left, that it would just hamstring the next manager/club so much that Marcus is willing to wait and see if Lambert gets it right?

I was at least hopeful that if he stayed that the outcry and the fact his approach clearly isn't working would force a change in tactics and formation but with ME saying the approach is being built from the bottom that has been dismissed. So now it's just depressing. SB
Paul Lambert seems to feel under a lot less pressure this morning.... on 09:40 - Dec 4 with 2782 views | DublinBlue84 | Now he's got the deluded fool to back him, he's now starting to make excuses for when he fails in the knowledge that the deluded fool will buy them, as the deluded fool has already clearly bought a lot of them to come out with his statement yesteday. Basically, Lambert is saying that we're not doing as well as we should be because of all of these things that are outside of his control, which allows him to be paint himself as a victim of circumstance rather than part of the problem. And the idea that has been floated that the money situation means we have no advantage over smaller clubs is laughable. Look at our wage bill and attendances and turnover compared to many in this league. We do have an advantage now but we won't next year when the wage cap comes in. I would understand his comments if we were still in the Championship but we're not, we're in League One with a huge wage bill compared to many better run clubs who are more successful on the fraction of the money. It just smirks of self serving nonsense. Both Evans and Lambert can do one, they are killing our club.

I don't think it would be an exaggeration to say that we have at least one of the best players in their respective position in every place on the pitch (except maybe goalkeeper) as it is, so I'm not sure we need bundles of help. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

....I could put up with all the bullcrap, arrogance and dismissiveness in interviews if he was getting results. I get the desire from Evans to have an identity on the pitch that runs through the club. I get the desire to play attractive, passing football, who wouldn't? But Lambert is so inept that he can't apply it to his team. You look at the other age groups and they try and play that way, but they do it with purpose and flair, it doesn't always get results but you can see the progress. He can't set up a team properly, he appears to have no concern how the opposition set up, he changes nothing during matches (other than swapping one winger for another), he has no Plan B (crap cliche), he has no motivational skills, individuals aren't improving through coaching....the list is endless. He just has none of the skills that a football manager needs.

He talks about the club having no money and then later talks about getting help on the playing side. Only way that can hang true is by getting rid of one or more of the existing players surely.

Paul Lambert seems to feel under a lot less pressure this morning.... on 09:48 - Dec 4 with 2651 views | Moriarty | When we speak of Crawford, Mariner, Wark, Osborne, Burley, Robson, Ramsey et al, we speak of heroes who occupied our dreams and hopes, who we revered and revere. ME would see them as paid employees. Lambert thinks buying a few pints and spinning guff entitles him to the same respect. That’s our ugly reality.

Paul Lambert seems to feel under a lot less pressure this morning.... on 09:48 - Dec 4 with 2652 views | LankHenners | His comment about the club ‘losing its way’ was a laugh or cry moment. I think the brass neck store made its biggest ever sale when he said that. It’s got to the point where it’s hard to tell whether he genuinely suffers from Trump-level delusion, or he knows he’s totally messed up and is just protecting himself by continually pulling the wool over Evans’ eyes. Either way he’s a nasty manipulative piece of work and someone should be screaming at Evans to tell him he’s making an(other) awful mistake.

I’d double up vote this if I could, it’s absolutely bang on the money. He’s an inept manager who has lost whatever nous he had 10 years ago. [Post edited 4 Dec 2020 9:49]

That's what so bizarre about the 5-year Lambert plan. Even at his best he never had a reputation as a details man, as a coach or a tactician. He's just the weirdest choice as a figurehead for a long-term rebuilding programme.

Paul Lambert seems to feel under a lot less pressure this morning.... on 10:36 - Dec 4 with 2338 views | woiii | We are missing a lot of quality due to injuries though. The only thing that really annoys me is the insistence on playing 433 rather than 442 which would obviously suit us better. I pray to god he changes that and some of our key players can stay fit to the end of the campaign.

It's crazy - for this 433 we want to play we have 25 players capable of playing at this level, at 7 or 8 who would be considered one of the best in their position in the league. Whilst also talking about playing the youngsters and giving them opportunities in the next breath

That's the issue, you have to be adaptable - this isn't Football manager where you can just a pick a tactic and roll with it - there are consequnces to leaving Jackson on the bench and playing Gibbs or Lankester in a midfield role where they don't get on the ball at all There isn't a penny that is going to drop, we can't just keep doing it and expecting it to start working Yes when we have better players, it will be better - but with the lack of opposition analysis and the likes it won't be enough when it matters

Paul Lambert seems to feel under a lot less pressure this morning.... on 10:57 - Dec 4 with 2175 views | Herbivore | Just read the whole transcript and I can't quite believe what I'm reading to be honest. It's all over the place and just entirely detached from the reality of what's going on at the club and the reality of the league we are in. It's like he's wound the clock back 2 years and is repeating the same stuff he came out with when we were bottom of the Championship with a comparatively small budget. The talks about playing the youngsters, but up until 2 games ago he wasn't doing so. We've got one of the oldest sides in the league. And he's talking about bringing in more senior players in January too, whilst also saying there's no money. They must think we're all stupid.

Seem to be talking ourselves into underdog status in L1, quite the feat. Yes it's Lambert parroting this stuff but make no mistake, it's an outlook that comes from the top.
