Luke Hyam 15:55 - Dec 11 with 7935 views | bournemouthblue | What is he up to nowadays, surely a player like him would be an experienced pro who would do a job in our squad at this level and surely wouldn't cost a lot in wages?

Luke Hyam on 15:59 - Dec 11 with 6946 views | rickw | He's unemployed since leaving Southend in the summer. If he still had ambitions of making it he should have asked if he could train with us until he finds a new club, if he'd have done that he would have been match fit when he was needed and we could have given him a short term contract. Unfortunately now by the time he's match ft the likes of Skuse, Downes and Nydam should be back so I don't think it's worth it.

I don't think fitness is an issue with Luke, he has a gym in his own house Perhaps he's lost the love of it, I don't know, he was never spectacular and I know Alan Judge probably isn't his biggest fan but he's fairly tough and physical. He'd probably be fairly solid at this level.

I think bringing Hyam back while Judge is still at Town would be a huge error or a blessing in disguise, depending on your point of view.

Funnily enough, he nearly joined Stowmarket in the summer, but COVID meant they could no longer afford him.

If he can’t get in the Southend side.. he’s playing for no team at conference standard up..

Luke Hyam on 17:00 - Dec 11 with 6650 views | clive_baker | He was very average when we did have him, on the rare occasion he was fit. Never understood what people saw in him. Nothing more than an ankle biter who walked like he was carrying 2 rolls of carpet.

Precisely what we've been missing for a long time. It's no surprise that Dozzell is getting booked and sent off trying to do the ankle-biting (as you put it) that Luke Hyam did so well. I liked the guy and if you research our record when he was fit and playing I think we won a lot more games than we lost.

Was good for the first few months of 14/15 prior to his injury before the Charlton game.

Was one of those players who got better in the minds of some fans the longer he was out injured.
Luke Hyam on 20:56 - Dec 11 with 6139 views | rickw | We all know he had limited ability, but he was very good at stopping the opposition. I always thought he could be useful in the right balance of midfield, i.e. play him with Dozzell and Bishop and he would do their dirty work for them and allow them to play. Unfortunately Mick used him with Skuse and Tabb or Douglas.....

Another damning indictment of where we are now but we certainly lack some muscle through the centre of the park

I should think there must be some out there on a free in January. The problem being we need someone who is very mobile as well as being a stopper. Not many of those going on a free most probably.
Luke Hyam on 17:05 - Dec 27 with 5018 views | Hipsterectomy | I wonder how players like him survive a period of relatively long unemployment. It's not like he would have been on mega money with us or Southend and did not seem the type to be frugal from stories I've heard about him on nights out. Some of the Bolton/Bury players literally couldn't pay their rent, bills or mortgage after a month of no wage, let alone 6+ months

As harsh as it sounds, at a certain point you have to concede that you're not going to get a club. This is a general point rather than about Hyam specifically as I have no idea what his circumstances are.
