Paul Lambert as a person 02:03 - Jan 28 with 5617 viewsdominiciawful

I've seen some posts and lines from people saying that, although they want Lambert gone, they have no ill feeling towards him and think that he seems a decent bloke and his heart is in the right place.

Now, I don't want to be too vitriolic, but from the things I've read about how he operates as a manager at Playford Road and his distance from the squad, the way he treats the local media with disdain and disrespect and how he is only ever seemingly truly out for Paul Lambert himself, I just don't feel like he seems the finest person and I really don't like him at all.

I think some people are still perhaps clinging on to how he came in as manager in 2018 and identified a number of things which weren't right at the club and which we had been banging on about, and his PR campaign, and so still feel a bit of an affinity there. In hindsight, that's what much of it was, PR.

I know most of us obviously don't know him in person anyway, but from the way he comes across I don't think he is due the relative goodwill he may get from some. It just doesn't sit right with me, especially considering how he's conducted himself in the past months.

He's not always been like that with the front side.

I know someone who has played under him and his man management was 'brilliant'.

Whatever has happened since the Norwich job has obviously hurt him and one of his biggest skills now appears to be one of his biggest failings.

You see this time and time again, managers who forget what made them successful, when they have managed in the premiership. Jewell as Wigan, got in young players to develop with some seasoned pro's. Here he loaded us up with ex prem players on big wages towards the end of their careers.

Lambert appears to have lost the art of man management, which all the Norwich and Wycombe players said was his biggest strength.

Bottom line is Culverhouse ran the show. Since 2012 he hasn't won more than he's lost at a single club. Horrific record and one Evans should've clocked immediately when his name was handed to him by Lambert's agent.

In the not too distant past I had posted on here that I could not dislike him as a person and did not think that I ever would but his more recent utterances and actions are changing my thoughts.

I don't think that my 'anti' feelings for him will ever reach those that I have for Hurst and Keane but Paul Lambert is no longer the 'impossible to dislike' that he was for me.

From what i've heard personally if you get on with lambert he's a nice guy, means well

but he's not a very hands on manager, he leaves alot to his staff, he doesn't have any interest in man management and he argues with alot of other staff.
Rumours are he shut down Jim Henry when it came to player fitness levels, they had a barny hence Jim going back to Scotland, Jim advised Lambert against certain playes being selected due to fitness levels and when Lambert did and they broke down, Lambert would pass the buck.
He's not been very popular with the other management set ups at PR, he's tried really hard to overthrow certain people at Portman Road, without success.

a niche perspective

Just get rid. Football is a ruthless game. Just because he's had Covid doesn't suddenly alter his apalling managerial record. The Club is more important than one sad individual.

I think he's a strange complicate bloke, paranoid, but clued up enough to know how to line his ducks before others let on to all this.

The PR sht as you mention in the early days, think he knows his limited to what he can do managing wise, so looks to get credit in the bank early doors.

When he talks now, now the passion and excitement has gone from him, I see an empty soul, dead behind the eyes. just weird. too many stories come out of the training ground for them to all be wrong, not talking to players, not turning up to training, when he does he walks over for 10mins but sits in office most of he time. the fact he picks a team and doesn't even talk it through with players says it all, they don't respect him.

hes so done here its beyond a joke, the only twot that cant see this, or wont act is the d1ckhead that gave him a 5 poxy pissing year deal, for effectively failing.

I have no idea why any of us give a sht anymore

I am (very vaguely) given to understand this is all since his illness though, especially not talking to anyone apart from Stephen Ward and his coaching team.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

I've not met him personally but based on how he conducts himself I think it's reasonable to deduce that he's a bit of a prick.

I’ve not met you personally but from what I’ve read I might conclude..........

I couldn’t care a less if he’s Mother Theresa or Attila the Hun. He doesn’t have what it takes to put together any sort of football team let alone a decent one.

I’m always a little mindful of like and dislike of people I don’t know. A couple of times in my working life I went to work with people that had awful reputations and they were totally different to what I expected.

Mr Lambert has never struck me as somebody I’d wish to know or share a drink with but who knows, he might be a cross between Peter Kay and Brian Cox. What I do know is that he’s epically hopeless at his job and should be gone.

A piss poor manager, a seemingly good schemer at ensuring his pockets are filled.

Whether he is a good bloke or not, nobody knows, other than speculation.

His personality doesn’t really have any bearing on the situation as far as I’m concerned – I don’t know the guy personally and I can’t pretend to know his relationships with Evans, fellow coaches and the players. It’s his record as manager and the performances on the pitch that matter.

Going down the personality route seems like a rabbit hole where people risk making inaccurate assumptions. As well as not focusing on the bottom line that we just haven’t been good enough for 2 years.

This is probably the best post I have ever seen relating to Paul Lambert. So spot on.

He is a man who works purely on feeling and passion, darting up and down the touchline. He doesn't do that anymore, I doubt he even wants to be here. So why on earth is he still here.

There really are some right morons posting here. Play the ball, not the man.

If you want the man out for footballing reasons, discuss and leave it at that. Saying he bought supporters drink as some sort of PR campaign is complete bs. Trying to disect the personslity of a man you don’t know is out order.

If he is a nice bloke, then he hides pretty well. A lot better than he sets up a football team.
