I may be, you never know, PL could just have felt chipper and relieved at not losing to a form side and probably deserving a win and too much might be being read into his change of mood.

Evans really is incompetent. Seriously thinks a 0-0 at home to Oxford is reason to stick with a manager with an atrocious record. Wow.

Funding a side capable of competing in the championship maybe something that Evan's soea not want to do. Not something you can make public but Lambert may be doing Evan's a favour for now. Make the change or even announce that Lambert is going at ST renewal. New manager comes in and then should Town be playing at Championship level the season after next fans will be back in Stadia without restrictions. ME sells hopsitality packages does he not. I would expect him to have some insight as to when Full Stadia, Arenas etc are going to be permitted. Just another Spin of sorts.

So looks like we are going to waste another couple of games then with this clown on 08:09 - Feb 21 by DanTheMan | If he's still here when season ticket renewals rumble around, I think Evans in for quite a shock. I just cannot believe how stubborn he's being. There is nothing to gain keeping him here. [Post edited 21 Feb 2021 8:12]

I don't think it will. Too many of our fans will renew because we are a soft touch and they'll basically go whatever is dished up and whoever is the manager. Max we'll lose is 500-1000 which is £0.5 million at most. The loss in ST revenue for any that do drop off will be much less than the severance package Evans would have to pay Lambert

More TV revenue in the Championship, which makes pretty much anything he wants to do with the club more viable.

Given we've heard they are apparently holding off until the last moment to get renewals out, they are obviously at least slightly worried about it.

I do think in isolation the much talked about 0-0 against Oxford at home isn't actually a bad result, based on their form in recent weeks, IF and it's a big IF our own form was better. Oxford won 9 and drew 1 in their last 10. The fact our recent form has not been up to scratch is the crux of the issue. Again, shows how low the bar is now set, but it just shows where we are as a club right now, which of course is not good enough

So looks like we are going to waste another couple of games then with this clown on 09:44 - Feb 21 by PhilTWTD | From what I was hearing at the end of the week it was all being readied to get done. They obviously had a chat on Friday, even if not the 'big meeting', and then yesterday's result evidently must have had some impact. No idea whether the owner still believes or is just loath to pay out on a settlement and a new incoming boss. We all know where this is going to end up, a decison finally made when it's far too late for the new manager to turn it around. |
I've got this feeling especially with the way we played yesturday and the lineup. Lambert told Evan's we are where are because of Evan's wish for possession football. If he just allowed Lambert to play the direct way we did yesturday then things would turn. Theres something about yesturdays game that cheered Lambert up. It wasnt just getting a point but it had to be something like lose you're out. Anything else will give you some more time. Yesturdays lineup and style made no sense at all in comparison to recent lineups and set ups. There was nothing there to suggest such a change.

Agree with all that. If we lose to Hull on Tuesday then the form book essentially looks the same. And, of course, that's all aside from all the off-field stuff with fans and the media which continues to get worse.

What a mad situation this is becoming As fans, we lose whatever...... the team does well (improves significantly on previous performances) and he gets a further reprieve, or we lose and any realistic prospect of making the play offs becomes less likely and we’re stuck in this awful league for another season

Agreed. I do think the media stuff, whilst unpleasant and unprofessional, is not highly unsuspected. Despite claims to the contrary Lambert is incredibly paranoid and thin skinned and when you have a situation where the local media have openly called for his head, the fact he is somewhat spiky is not unsurprising. That was the 1 big risk the EADT/Ipswich star took in my view, further relations would be somewhat frosty

Hardly unprofessional. It's a local newspaper and the club is a massive earner for hundreds of shop keepers etc in the town when life is normal. So imo they are in their rights to print what they did

Yea, I was saying that on Lamberts part, because whilst paranoid and also thin skinned, he's also human.... I agree with your point about the local media though, they have used their platform, when fans have less chance of doing that at games etc

So looks like we are going to waste another couple of games then with this clown on 09:46 - Feb 21 by Keno | when you say "and then yesterday's result evidently must have had some impact" do you mean a 0-0 home draw against the all conquering Oxford I likely to persuade Evans that Lamberk should stay? |
Shame Jim Magilton's last game in charge didn't give him more time. And that was a win against some random team who (normally) play in yellow...
