It's true - that Neil Lennon has resigned that is. But it might also explain the sudden pragmatism in Lambert's game plan last night...

Bet he’ll put his cv in

Yep, he'll definitely put his CV in.

From there, it could go one of two ways: The most logical and likely outcome is that, given his atrocious managerial record, his CV will go straight in the circular file; the other outcome is that he flukes it to the interview stage and then uses his undoubted PR and blagging prowess to win the Celtic board over.

Either way, he'll at least apply.

If he does that, he’s no chance of getting it

If he leaves off his last 5 jobs he might have a chance. They might have a few questions about the 9 year gap in employment though.

I can't see any Scottish chsmpionship sides taking him on let alone a top prem one. It would have to be a tiny desperate club to take him on with his record and then they wouldn't be able to afford his unbelievable wages

He wouldn't do a bad job at Celtic to be fair, he'd get the fans back on side, knows that league which is weaker than this one in terms of competition and about the same level in terms of quality. He'd finish 2nd minimum.

Football League First Division / Premier League Champions (1): 1961—62 - Runners-up (2): 1980—81, 1981—82 Football League Second Division / EFL Championship Champions (3): 1960—61, 1967—68, 1991—92 - Play-off winners (1): 1999—2000 Football League Third Division / EFL League One Champions (2): 1953—54, 1956—57 - Southern League Champions (1): 1936—37 FA Cup Winners (1): 1977—78 - Texaco Cup Winners (1): 1972—73 UEFA Cup / UEFA Europa League Winners (1): 1980—81

I’d imagine with their season all but over in terms of winning the league, they’ll just appoint a caretaker and assess their options in the Summer.

It looks like they’re linked with the likes of Roberto Martinez, Rafa Benitez and Eddie Howe. I think when Lambert gets the boot here (hopefully tomorrow) he’ll get himself into media, something like BT Sport Bundesliga.

Thierry Henry the man that handballed to knock Ireland out in a world Cup play off and a man with no managerial credibility whatsoever is ahead of former legend and a man with a long track record of managing big clubs in England to be Celtic manager!

Amusingly enough, a few weeks ago, I was banned from a Glasgow newspaper's comments for pointing out how crap he is and telling them that they'd be mad to give him the job.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Idiot

Tell them ye is amazing and he sees things others can't because he played for massive clubs. Nothing phases him at all. Failing all that just let them know that he will but them all a bucky

According to the bookies Gerry Adams has more chance of getting the Celtic job than big team, Champions league winning Paul Lambert.

It's true that there are fewer teams in the Scottish Premiership than in the Third Division but the effect of playing every other team four times in a season brings a familiarity with players and tactics that clubs have to cope with. Would be interesting to see how Peterborough, for example, fared against Livingston or Hamilton Accies. By the time you get up to Dundee United and Hibernian I think you would find even the top Third Division sides would be perplexed by the expansiveness of Scots teams at the moment.

He's been working for nearly two seasons in a division in which he has a substantial number of advantages. I wouldn't bet on that.

P.L. at 33-1 is the same odds as Rainieri and Van Gaal - Big names, massive names. There aren't any German names though, and they'll surely be on the lookout for exactly that vital massive, big Bundesliga connection.
