One global pandemic and a change of ownership and we might finally be clawing our way back eh? Can’t say it’s been enjoyable or worked out very well though.

Generally, you could tell when Lambert was under pressure because he started trying to deflect blame towards Evans rather than his own inept handing of the first team. He did it just before that ludicrous contract was signed and he was doing it before he completely checked out and put Matt Gill in charge of the first team.

Lambert should have been sacked on this day two years ago. That, to be fair *IS* a way he way trying to tell us that Evans

If i recall, he pulled a little strop around late October / early November time and began to look disinterested then. We all knew he had a tendency to do this as his career has shown so it shouldn't have come as a surprise. The surprise was the whopping endorsement for proven and sustained failure. At that point, the disillusionment really set in for us all i think.

He even blamed you.

The paranoia was remarkable really. Things like the team being posted on here and the story about the young lads not being included in the photo were seen as someone in or around the club deliberately going out of their way to cause them trouble. Everyone, including some senior players and staff, were viewed with suspicion. Really unhealthy working environment.

I think that goes some way to explaining the malaise amongst the squad now. Imagine working under those conditions for so long? Must feel pretty awful.

I don't think it was a particularly energised atmosphere and various people have suggested to me that the squad as a group haven't been fit enough. Certainly PC doesn't seem to think they're fit enough to play the football he wants to.

So you could possible have a chance for the last ten then Phil, if we're still at a stalemate?

I've heard the same from the analysts, that they're not fit enough. It's blindingly obvious from watching too, we're sluggish all over the pitch, just coasting.

I think Joe mentioned that during lockdown last year the first team players weren't given specific tailored training programmes to keep themselves fit. If so that is incredible really. They were away from the club for a good 4 or 5 months and had a fairly short preseason, if they weren't staying in shape during lockdown then that's got to have impacted their fitness throughout the season.

You can tell the fitness levels arent anywhere good enough. Some of them can be seen to the eye.
Edward's is alot bigger than when he came in. Even bigger than earlier in the season.
Norwood... weights clearly been his personal target which actually can be a detriment to his footballing fitness.
And the fact we cant play a full 90 minutes without the need of 5 changes.

Never be afraid to share your thoughts.

Regarding Norwoods weight issues, it was never a problem for Jan Molby and Micky Quinn, guys I always looked up to, more in hope than expectation!

I said at the time it was actually a great opportunity for players to really focus on strength and conditioning. Ok they may not have had access to all the right equipment, but when else in a footballers career would they have the time to do that without having to worry about football specific drills/technique training etc. Instead, these lot were left to drink beer and have bbq’s every day as we had a manager who couldn’t care less due to thinking he was already gone and an incompetent owner. Shambolic really.

I think that's been pretty obvious from how these last two seasons have panned out - we were seeing off sides based on our xtra quality but then when other sides got fitter, we were generally found out.

Lambert should have lost his job there and then. Instead he got a five year deal, standing ovations and a rendition of 'Two Little Birds'.

What needs to be said it's 2 years since possibly the most embarrassing thing to happen at any club. Literally ever ! I mean all what happened following the final whistle as Lambert and those utter wasters got clapped and cheered by SBR. Each single one of them ought to have been kicked out of the club.

No fight, no hunger, no drive yet they got clapped and cheered.

For this moment Mach, I am with you on this. There shouldn't have been songs, chants, posters and five year deals for Lambert, there should have been the sack.

The sack for him and the players alike.

The players kept letting us down on the pitch following the relegation.
