Starmer thrown out of the pub 15:47 - Apr 19 with 5189 viewsStokieBlue

He is of course entitled to not want Starmer in his pub but to then accuse him of failing the country for not opposing lockdown and for allowing restrictions on people is a denial of the science. I thought he was going to accuse him on not challenging the Tories enough which would be a fair point but he decided to attack the science instead.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-politics-56802020

Of course he is upset due to the economic issues that have come with lockdown but it's also important to not rewrite the science now that some things are opening up.

The BBC seem to have missed the unsavoury line at the start where he says we messed up the economy to save old people but it's available on the videos on YouTube. I wonder how widespread that view is across the country?

Starmers security also rather heavy-handed there, no real need for that.

Ah yes. Nothing says 'fearless leader cocking a snook at The Elite' like complaining that you're pub's had to shut during a global pandemic that's claimed 150,000+ British lives.

It’s ok, I know TWTD always comes down on the side of their betters.

In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!

Ah, a disappointed 'traditional working class' Labour voter. It's not Darth is it?

No, it can't be as Darth's far too sensible to be an anti-lockdown nut.

Well, why shouldn’t he moan and complain? Especially when a high profile politician wants to come to his pub? Don’t you think he’s entitled to be annoyed? Perhaps he thinks he hasn’t had a decent level of support from the government and thinks Keith is as useless in opposition as Darth thinks he is.
Honestly the forelock tugging on here gets worse by the week. It’s pathetic. I bet the usual suspects you included would be laughing your tits off if it was someone you didn’t like.

Shows you what a shambles Labour is when they can't even ring the local pubs ahead, find out which publicans are sympathetic and then pose for the after-lockdown photo opportunity with the smiling faces of supporters.

The Tories would have done it that way, but then again that's why they win elections because they know what the world outside of Twitter looks like and who actually votes. Labour is a shambles.

During the general election of 1987, I had the Lib Dem candidate Liz Lynne in my pub in Thorpe-Le Soken. At the time I was a Tory councillor and she knew this.

We had a nice chat and she was free to canvas the regulars.

Politics was far more civilised back then. People from other parties who held different views were opponents. Not enemies.

Tory Councillor under Thatcher! That's a brave admission. How much did your Council make selling the publics homes back to them then ;)

Jokes aside, I agree 100%. Politics is getting silly now, nobody can even chat about it without getting heated.

I'd say that's a natural consequence of the kind of people getting involved in politics these days. They encourage it. Trolling online, dog whistling, doing the bidding of a variety of nefarious interests and putting those interests ahead of those of the people they're paid to represent.

Let's be honest, there are some utter scumbags masquerading as politicians knocking around on all sides right now. These people are fundamentally objectionable - I doubt their core decency, and it's not a matter of ideological difference that can be debated any more. Look no further than those who represent Ipswich on both a national and local level. In what world are the likes of Tom Hunt and Ian Fisher remotely qualified to represent the town? They're an effing disgrace.

But then, the voters keep on voting for them. Probably fair to say that the majority of people out there get exactly the kind of politicians they're looking for. I'm doubtful that they fully understand what they're asking for though.

I live in the middle of nowhere and have an MP who lives in 100 miles away in Wimbledon representing me, because people here think when they vote for an MP, they vote for Boris Johnson. Now we have someone who doesn't live here, never visits outside of need, cares more about her career and doesn't even respond to letters or emails. This was once the great RA Butlers constituency.

Voters are too lazy to look into it, or who they really vote for. We don't have a presidential system, you vote for the candidate who best presents you and your area, not for the Party, the candidate, and only the candidate, and not for a Prime Minister.

Why would they setup someone to yell at him about his responses to the pandemic with anti-scientific nonsense?

Millions did. Then again the other Party's only ever put up papers in my part of the world, same with the local elections. The Tories don't even need to try.
