Scenes. Climbing the goal nets, smashing cameras, letting off flares. Quite extraordinary

Idiots. The previous peaceful protests by fans had got them a lot of good publicity, which will now be overshadowed by this irresponsible one of them breaking the law.

Fan now on R5l reporting they've actually damaged their own pitch, as well as the other damage they did to camera etc.

And 2 police officers hurt too apparently. Although the police have made up stuff like that lately, so who knows if that's true. Idiots indeed.

I fully support them going in with flares and more. Working class people have had their clubs stolen from them by some of the richest people in the world, backed up by the weight of the economic system and legal system. They are powerless to do anything effective through those channels and simply apologising and moving on from the ESL doesn't cut it.

Community first... Their owners should get out.

We had matches without fans for such a long time.

And today a new level of absurdity has been reached, quite unnecessarily. There are fans at Old Trafford but no match. But you want them to go in with flares "and more" - really? Is the point of having a football club not to have some actual football matches...?

Some people are on the pitch, they think it's all over, it is now.

Nothing compared to our training ground protest

That worked though. After that we got national exposure, in the papers and Talksport which led to Lambert coming out and chucking the club under the bus in the subsequent interviews and getting sacked. Blue Action set the wheels in motion.

Would be like pouring petrol on the fire. Neville and Carragher have led the fight.

Not nice to see obviously but long term it does send a message.

Agreed. The beeb has done its usual on the news, headlining the two paper cuts the cops got, but there are normal fans out there making a point. Most of this is frustration at the slow unwinding of lockdown tbh: it's part of a growing trend. Thousands at protests, not hundreds btw, and tens of thousands in London recently. Law and order is showing the strain of a year of restrictive conditions. Behaviour can't be condoned but sentiment behind it...?

What are they protesting over, I get the whole ESL stuff, but i've seen finances mentioned... They've spent more money than Man City since 2010, isn't it more of poor management rather than lack of finances?!

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

Indeed. Neville is a prize berk for supporting yesterday's action, including illegal & violent acts. The Man U faithful are grumpy because they haven't been top dogs for 8 years now. OK, they don't like the Glazers, who bought the club as a financial investment (& a very successful one) but if the Glazers left, they'd presumably sell out to another very rich capitalist (or small country) so I doubt it would make much difference.

Completely get their point about the grim Glazers, who I think most in football dislike intensely, but I'd have thought, given their notorious avarice, that the way for ManU fans to hit them hardest would have been through their pockets - ie by not buying any of their products - merchandise, streaming etc.

Whilst I agree the issue with a club like Manchester United is there is always someone to take their place - they might only want to support the club because of it’s history or live in Outer Mongolia but they’ll still put the money is, even if a few supporters give up.

The protests were understandable but should have stayed outside of the ground and remained peaceful. Unfortunately the underlying message was lost due to the actions of a few.

the cynic in me think sky were in a panic over this super league business. they could have lost out big time, with the clubs doing there own pay per view. so get their employees e.g the pundits ,to kick a big fuss up over this. i find it funny that the people who started the elite get all the money, suddenly are all pious over this.
i will add i am not in favour of the supper league.

Absolutely. Sky - who were involved in the initial PL break-away - attempting to take take the moral high ground - was utterly nauseating, especially with their paid cheerleaders Neville & Carragher.

Regarding some of the disgusting violence witnessed, it shouldn’t be too difficult to identify the perp here and get the appropriate sanctions taken, should it?
