I don’t understand getting rid of those and wonder if it’s been leaked to drive up prices. I can understand some not fitting Cooks style or wanting out, but the idea they aren’t good enough but will go up a league or to Prem reserves must mean it’s about balancing the books to some extent. |  |

Or maybe it’ll clear the way for a new generation of our own to get into the team. Would totally agree with you though, if this is true then such a depth and scale of turnover suggests it might take an all new team time to find their feet at the start of next season. |  |

Even when Cook came in and placed dynamite under their arses some of these players were still strolling through games. I think some people have very inflated opinions on one or two of them in particular.
Cook is a very determined man. A superb manager that knows what he wants. If he thinks they are not good enough either in attitude or quality he’s right to move them on. |  | | |

Downes doesn’t want to be here anymore, he wants to move on regardless. Dobra would loan but keep.

Double edged ploy?
You have a contract with us, but you are free to try and find a move elsewhere = you were so poor see if anyone will offer you anything, then come back for pre-season with a proper mental attitude.
Those in contract may well find the offers elsewhere to be lower, of course they could simply see out their contract stealing a living, or may, just may, think if I don't up my game I may have to find a job outside of football at the end of my contract. |  |

Downes doesn’t want to be here anymore, he is looking for a move.
Ultimately, we shouldn’t be going into a new managers tenure with people who don’t want to be here.

Downes is a superb player. One of the first names on the teamsheet. But that would be a 100% committed and motivated Downes. I’d say we were lucky if he hit 60% this season.
He will most likely move and do well elsewhere. People will then complain why did we allow such a good player leave. The simple answer is because the player probably won’t commit and probably wants to go. I wish I was wrong.
We’ll see fairly soon what type of player we will replace these guys with. I think we will be very satisfied with Cook’s choices. | | | |

Very surprised that the list apparently includes Wolfenden, And especially Downes and Dobra. To me they are the three bright sparks we have. I certainly don’t see many better than them on our books, so he saying that even the best we have aren’t good enough or don’t fit in with his way of doing things. Sorry to see them go, but maybe it’s the way it needs to be to get the traction and momentum as quickly as we want it. I’m sure those players, and others, will go on to have solid careers.
All I can think is that if the shake up works we are in for an infinitely better few seasons than the last few. But the disaster of Hursts clear out has burnt me so I confess to having a few nerves about such a huge revolution. |  |

I don't disagree with your point but i think Downes is a shock to me as he's a 100% player in attitude and certainly good enough to get in every team in this league and the majority of championship teams.
I would also keep Teddy, the rest of them are certainly replaceable.
I'm yet to be impressed by Dobra despite the fanfare. | | | |
