Really want Man City to win tonight on 12:30 - May 29 with 740 views | Guthrum | Neither of them are Ipswich, or any of the other teams which I keep half an eye on for various (often historical or sentimental) reasons. Not convinced it will be a beautiful demonstration of the game of football, either.

Really want Man City to win tonight on 12:25 - May 29 by MattinLondon | As someone who lives very close to Manchester it seems to me that it’s a myth to say that there are more Man City fans than Utd. True, a lot of the young kids wear city tops, but United seems to be much more popular than City. Also, there are quite a few Liverpool tops worn around the actual city itself - always thought that the rivalry was extremely strong between the cities and football clubs. Was surprised by that. |
Summer of 96 when househunting in Greater Manchester was shocked surprised and delighted to see a kid in Radcliffe wearing a town baseball cap. My experience having lived in Manchester for 4 years was that United were in the majority across Greater Manchester, but there were certain areas of the City of Manchester where they were virtually non-existent. I had a Newcastle supporting friend who lived in Harpuy who told me about one of his city supporting neighbours who rang the club to request they sent a player to his son's birthday party because Paul Scholes had attended another neighbour's kid's party (he was a friend of the family and not on club business)

I know it sounds silly but when in a city where the local football team(s) are very successful it always makes me smile if I see a young kid or teenager wearing a top of an unfashionable side. Strangest case was when I was in Liverpool for a work meeting and a young teenager was walking in the city centre, wearing a Torquay shirt with his dad.

Yeah, total myth, there are red areas and blue areas but it’s certainly not true that everyone in Manchester supports City. Would imagine the Liverpool shirts were exiled scousers though, doubt many mancunians support that lot.

Real point is until recently City had few plastic fans. There will be bandwagon jumpers now of course. Chelsea and Man U have loads of them, City are a proper football club taken over by oil money. Chelsea were way behind at least three London clubs until Abramovich came along. Their underlying support is poor with an unsavoury element.

Really want Man City to win tonight on 10:38 - May 29 by judespiveyg | While I dislike both clubs, there's a lot of players I quite like on both teams, Foden, Mount, De Bruyne, Giroud etc. Pep is also an absolute genius, best manager in world football in the years since he first became Barca manager, likeable guy too. |
Is he the best though? I know it's subjective but i'm not convinced. Just to be clear i'm not one of these people who tries to downplay his achievements or calls him a fraud. He's clearly brilliant. Just not sure it's undisputed. Getting back to the thread...I think it will be a poor game. Chelsea sitting back playing for 1-0 or extra time. City, if they go ahead, are incredibly boring in games like this. They just play keep ball for the rest of the game. I know the opposition can't score without the ball and the point is to win but it feels so anti football. They break 4 on 2 and they still don't bother trying to score. They pass it around and then pass it back and start again. I've seen games they could have been 3-0 up in and not worrying about the endless keep ball but they still do it. Just seems so anti football for a teamed coached by supposedly the greatest there is. I doubt we'd see Bielsa play like that.

City, anti football? You been on the wobbly juice already.
Really want Man City to win tonight on 16:17 - May 29 with 604 views | ClareBlue | This is the ultimate nightmare for me. Usually I know which team I despise most and want to lose, but with these two it is almost impossible. It's like an episode of the moral maze in reverse

Really want Man City to win tonight on 12:29 - May 29 by Pendejo | Said it before, say it again "hate" Citeh for various reasons largely involving a bad element amongst their fans that I have witnessed, including believing should qualify for Europe because they had 30k+ crowds in tier 3, and bitterness about that 81 cup sf at Villa Park. But They are a great football team here and now, also agree with another poster that Walker, Stones, Foden and Sterling could be key for England and one final boost. Chelsea only have James and Mount don't they? As for money; how many clubs have spent millions without being able to deliver Championships? Or often simply failing to perform... Arsenal? Spurs? And Chelsea are hardly paupers... |
Didn't they get a free ground curtesy of UK taxpayers? Now they are wallowing in cash perhaps we could have some back? West Ham could do the same.

When a manager makes other coaches follow his lead in their approach to the game in 3 separate countries the manager is special. He’s implement cryuff’s ideas and adapted them and taken things to a higher level. A brilliant, brilliant manager. I would go as far as saying United’s best teams under fergie wouldn’t beat most of Pep’s over a season.
Really want Man City to win tonight on 19:26 - May 29 with 558 views | jontysnut | Tough call - him or David Mellor. On the whole celebrity Chelsea fans seem more horrible than their City counterparts, so on that basis City.
Really want Man City to win tonight on 21:22 - May 29 with 522 views | Swansea_Blue | If you deliberately take out a player like that so he ends up having to go off, the ref should be able to come back and retrospectively upgrade the yellow to a red imo. Dirty barstewards.
