In some ways, it's better that this season's kit is quite traditional. If it was something garish or peculiar, the whole thing could end up looking too much like a stunt, trying overly hard to make a statement.

Bear in mind that people buying the shirt purely through the Sheeran connection have no background in the minutiae of former badges, red/yellow trim, laces, stripes, etc. which may excite the older fan. Plus how the season went can greatly affect a retrospective view on a shirt style.

Getting Sheeran on board and involved is a massive PR coup. Shirt sales could make a tangible difference to our spending power and thus strength on the pitch.

This is why imo the plainess of the shirt goes a long way, looking through twitter and various other platforms, the amount of non town fans showing their excitement of the new shirt is brilliant, plenty of potential buyers out there. His music may not excite a certain demographic but the millions that it does is so much better for us than a betting company logo.
