Favourite burger 14:04 - Jun 8 with 5313 viewsThe_Last_Baron

Ladies and gentlemen, the sun is out, the weather is hot and that means it is the perfect time for a beer and a burger. The big question is what is your favourite burger.

I had a burger there weeks ago which was the greatest burger I've ever tasted. It was huge and prime quality , hit the spot so good that I could not move for half an hour. And all for £4.50. Bit of camerbert, some sauce the like of which I've never experienced before, but who cares, it was magnificent, and some other trimmings which hit the spot.

So what is your burger of choice. I like a good venison one.

Pardon my ignorance- do vegan burgers and steaks taste like actual beef ones?

In my experience, no. But they taste nice in their own way.

That very much depends. You can buy ones that replicate the shape and function of a burger but that aren't trying to taste like one, but you also get some that want to successfully imitate the taste of a burger. My partner isn't vegan and she loves the Meatless Farm burgers and says they are very close to a beef burger in flavour and texture.

....it's just a burger, between two more burgers.

Or maybe a bacon burger burger. As above but with a slice of bacon between each burger.

With meat gravy.

That sounds dirty...but delicious.

Meatless Farm burgers for me. Delicious and they don't even contribute to the death of an animal or the planet.

A meatless burger is not a burger. The whole point of a tasty burger is meat.

Pattie - beef/venison lightly seasoned with salt and black pepper.
Bun - lightly toasted ciabatta (great texture and holds everything together to the last bite)
Extras - monterey jack cheese, tomato, raw onion, lettuce
Sauce - tomato and mustard

I had a vegan burger a few years back, it was fine and tasted ok, quite liked it. However an hour later I felt as if someone had inflated me with one of those airbed pumps. The downside of all those vegetables.

I like a smash burger, a la Shake Shack. A potato bun is a must but impossible to find here. The Big Mac is my favourite cheap burger.

If I'm going to do it, I like to make it myself. Have to use high fat beef, then I don't tend to add a lot. Cracked black pepper maybe, no salt until it's about to go onto the BBQ.

Then traditional bits and pieces in the bun and some burger sauce. Extra points if you can make the brioche buns yourself.

Brioche should be nowhere near meat. It's basically pudding.

Beyond Burgers are lovely, but very expensive.

I am trying the Moving Mountains products, their burger and sausage burger are very nice. UK company as well.

Of course burgers are all about the toppings.
The Applewood Vegan Smoke Cheese slices are yummy.

The Beyond Meat burgers taste very similar to a beef-based burger, especially when you've added the various garnishes.

If buying I struggle to beat an Honest Burger (normally whatever their special is) cooked medium rare and doubled up! The chips are far superior to other takeaway options.

On a bbq I get the butchers to mince some chuck steak and make my own.

The Honest Burger chips are 90% salt and 10% potato. Awful.

The burgers are OK though.

Each to their own I guess.

Most other decent burger places struggle to keep the chips crisp. Have to say I’ve never thought the rosemary salted chips are excessively salty but as you say, each to their own!

Are the chips sharp enough to pop a pineapple chunk on them?

Where was the burger in your OP from?

Sounds right up my street.
