Cook had better know exactly what he's doing 12:43 - Jun 23 with 9738 viewsSomethingBlue

(Which is different to saying "Cook doesn't know what he's doing")

What's that, 11 players starting first-team training and nearly three times as many in the 23s? Even considering there won't be much ball work over the first week, this is one hell of a high wire act. Need to see four or five more players come in very quickly otherwise this will start to look pretty messy.

Or for some of the U23 crew to come back fit, keen and then to push themselves forward in training. Grab the manager's attention and earn an upgrade.

Agree with this, but more likely deals for them To move on is progressing.

If the purpose is to motivate some players to kick on, of course it's punishment to make them train with the U23s, what else would you call it?

I just saw the "the first-teamers training with the U23s" thing as pragmatic & a matter of practicalities - where's the sense in having 11 players training as one single group, and the U23s as another?

No.

With Dobra it's not motivation its more trying to get a level head on him. And just slow his head down and to get him to remember what level he currently is and what he needs to do regularly to develop further to be a regular first team player. Dyer and TB working very closely with him.

He's usually one of our best players whenever he plays. Him and many other younger players have been mistreated since they ever "broke" into the first team.

You are aware that Dobra's first team debut was 2 years ago, right? And he scored in that game. There is nothing redeeming in the decision to send him to the U23s for no particular reason. It is ridiculous to say it's to get a level head on him when he's barely been given a chance and we have prioritised loanees and old players over our own youngsters.

The same applies to the others. If we are selling them then why are they being relegated to the U23s team? How is that helping their value? What message is this sending to all the U18 players? And if we are planning to keep any of them at this point, they definitely aren't going to want to stay after this charade.

I'll be very surprised if Dobra is still here come the end of January, if not by the close of the window.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

New manager. New ideas. We must back him. Squad last season 90% not good enough. Great to see a proper clear out.

"list to change at manager discretion"

for all the pant wetting over these two lists, that sentence seems to have been overlooked.

I’m just aggravated that Nolan is considered a first 11 player. When Town were performing so abjectly through April did anyone ever find themselves thinking, “God, if only Jon Nolan was out there, he’d get things going.”

If Cook can get a level of performance out of him that Hurst or Lambert couldn’t, I’ll be amazed. He’s been the epitome of of a number of Town players over the last few seasons who’ve worn our shirt and looked like it’s a concrete overcoat.

Out of the 11 first teamers - Nolan, Ndaba, El Mizouni and Donacien seem to be there purely because they were either injured or out on loan when Cook turned up

If it all goes tits up you’ll find very few people who will admitting to thinking that this was the right thing to do in a few months time

Perhaps. I'll be happy to stand corrected, in my orthopedic shoe.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.
