Arvin Appiah - An Insight 19:52 - Jul 5 with 6002 viewsTomTheWriter

Researching Arvin Appiah was similar to researching Keanan Bennetts. And, they both share a lot of similarities.

If you are wanted by Manchester United, Arsenal, Almeria etc. then you undoubtedly have talent. Looks like he was a shining light for the Nottingham Forest U23 team, at the age of 17/18. England international all the way to U19. Almeria move didn't work out how he would have liked, but it feels like someone who has untapped ability waiting to be unleashed.

Type of deal unknown to me, I just like to analyse the player for us all to discuss. Exciting winger with pace to burn. We've heard that before, sometimes goes bad, but sometimes comes good.

Heard a bit more on this since the story. Think Appiah is more of an outsider, certainly than Celina, bit further down the list.

That sounds like London, New York and Peckham.

Did think this one came slightly out of the blue. Would it be a case of 'If Celina fails, we look at Appiah?' or more of a 'If our 2nd choice winger fails, then we move to Appiah?' Should be interesting all the same. It's nice not being linked with endless 28-38 y/o free agents from the Championship like Mick's day

Much appreciated thank you.

I enjoy doing them myself, always nice when we get linked with a 'random' because it's more interesting to learn about them. Similar to when Benjamin Siegrist was linked with us

What’s your initial thinking on the Celina deal, Phil? Loan or permanent?

Imagine taking time out of your day to be negative, props.

Considering the fact when you type in 'Arvin Appiah' in google, the first things you get are endless FIFA reviews of his player card, it's very unlikely you'll find everything I do.

Has a very similar feel to JET. Left-footed, drives with the ball well. Not as 'strong' as JET should have been on the ball, and don't think he has the power. However, a very similar comparison. Hopeful he has double the effort and a similar long-range shot on him!

Wow that is some serious intent, optimism, but more important investment in someone like Celina. How could we afford the transfer fee and wages, whilst he has almost three years left on his deal?

Yeahhh, I have zero 'def info' on anything, all opinions and thorough research.

I'm also not 'self-promoting,' not sure creating an article that generates zero money and askes everyone to come back to this forum so kind and normal people can engage in conversation and discussions is doing that? I like to write, it's the whole reason I studied Journalism at University.

All I do is put everything in one place, so that people don't have to go back two-to-three years on Twitter to find out about players at their best. They don't have to traipse through 10-15 pages on Google to find articles that a scout has done on a player's best attribute.

People seem increasingly unable or unwilling to accurately distinguish between *actual* chancers & wind-up merchants and genuine, well-intentioned posters. It's noticeable.

Really appreciate that, thank you.

I enjoy this sort of intrigue during the transfer windows. We haven't had one this exciting for a long time, having business being done early and the calibre of players being mentioned in relation to our club.

Absolutely agree.

There's optimism around the club; for the first time in a few years; more importantly, for the first time in rather longer it might actually be justified.

I mean, we're Ipswich, so the Cobbold Stand will probably collapse into a sinkhole tomorrow - but yeah, it's actually quite interesting, for a change.

Maybe it's because we were starved of business last season. We had to wait until the middle of August for Cornell, Ward and Hawkins all to join on the same, then Bennetts and McGuinness were a couple of weeks after that. Always felt like catch up last season despite everyone being in the same boat.

I mean, when was the last time we were linked with Ligue 1, Spanish Segunda players? Much higher-level players like Harper and Crooks? Players who have joined us and caused outrage for their own clubs fanbases because they were genuinely disappointed that they had lost them like Evans, Hladky and Burns?

I'm properly excited to see Hladky - honestly think he could be the star of the show.

Celina would be a nuts signing; Crooks bossed it down here a couple of years ago, and I don't know a great deal about Appiah.
