I'd love to you know what happened behind the scenes 14:22 - Jul 28 with 7617 views | Bluefish | Some of it just doesn't add up Woolf Donacien Norwood Nolan Holy El Mizouni Nsiala lol All avoid bomb squad Dobra randomly doesn't then all is forgiven before a ball is kicked Everyone else kicked out including the likes of McGavin that never had a look in or Nydam that was highlighted for effort or Lankester who was originally chucked back in straight away and then disappeared There is more to this than what we know.

I'd love to you know what happened behind the scenes on 14:59 - Jul 28 by J2BLUE | It doesn't make much sense when LON was saying Norwood would definitely get goals if he had service. This was around the time he was meeting Cook so I would imagine it was the party line rather than him going out on his own. I don't think Norwood's place has ever been in doubt. |
Would you make him first choice now ahead of the combination of Pigott/Bonne/Fraser/Chaplin? (However they would line up as a combination of striker and number 10.)

I genuinely think there was a bit of a hangover in some players' minds about how MM was perceived to have been treated, and I think this was illustrated with the fingers in the ears celebrations last season. Seems to be a case of PC only wants players who really want to be at the club. I think Nydam may have been a little different in that PC maybe just thought he was someone who needed a new start elsewhere.

I'd love to you know what happened behind the scenes on 14:55 - Jul 28 by itfcjoe | I'd guess we still want a decent fee for Downes, when the reality is we are going to struggle to get one.....wouldn't surprise me if he ends up going out on loan this year near the end of the window and we trigger the option on his contract to sell him next summer (hopefully of the back of a good season) |
With every day that passes I guess that’s more likely. We clearly would like the fee to offset our spending but may be we aren’t going to get the (say) 750k we want. Like I said, I surprised but I guess with his last season and the market it’s not as easy a sale as I think.

I'd love to you know what happened behind the scenes on 14:58 - Jul 28 by Nthsuffolkblue | I was a little surprised anyone was keen enough on Drinan to pay a fee (I assume we got something or else what was the point at all?). Two very similar situations (players I cannot see us wanting for our squad), just at different levels of finance. It will be interesting to see what happens with him. As indeed it will be with Downes. I find it hard to believe there is no real interest in him. |
Not sure anyone knows what keeping Drinan on was about, really. Leyton Orient have brought in no money from sales, so I don't imagine they had anything to spend in any case. Maybe we kept him on because he was so cheap that there wasn't really a potential downside and there was an outside chance we'd use him to sweeten a deal for a L2 player?

I'd love to you know what happened behind the scenes on 14:40 - Jul 28 by WD19 | If we had released Jackson he would currently be limbering up in pre-season with one of our L1 rivals. At least this way, for relatively little outlay, we get to choose where he goes and insert a sell on clause should he ever flourish. That said, our best bet is probably a low end championship side taking a punt on him as a back up striker on a season long loan. |
I think a loan seems inevitable unless someone is willing to stump up the (say) 200k and full wages. My guess is we’d prefer a Championship club or bottom half L1 side (given he can’t play against us) but beggars can’t be choosers.

He signed for an “undisclosed fee” (I’m guessing very close to £0) on 28 June. So we’ve saved 3 days wages (£500?) there! May be the deal had a sell on clause or promotion clause?

I'd love to you know what happened behind the scenes on 14:37 - Jul 28 by itfcjoe | Phil confirmed in his stories at the time that Norwood and Dobra were told they could leave THink there are obvious things why some people still involved Norwood - bumper contract that no one else would pay KVY - would have to sell at a loss, and has long contract, plus is player that could be worth 10x what we paid for him Woolfie - long contract, so would be hard to get rid of without giving away |
But Phil Also said Wolfenden was told he could leave. But Wolfenden says in his interview, 'I had a chat with the gaffer at the end of the season and he said he wanted to work with me in pre-season and throughout this season.' That is not being told you can leave. I'd suggest that the party line was everyone can leave. Individual's may have had slightly different conversations than were reported.

It was interesting to hear Ashton's anecdote about getting new players to buy into the project by talking about the pension fund being for people who run towards adversity, and him saying that Norwood responded really positively to that story. Just seemed strange thay he mentioned Norwood in particular...

I'd love to you know what happened behind the scenes on 14:39 - Jul 28 by SamWhiteUK | "There is more to this than what we know" Maybe there is, maybe there isn't. Whichever is the case, we can't do anything about it, and we will get nowhere speculating. We don't need thread after thread on it, and I thought the time of talking about the "bomb squad" was starting to be put to bed. Apparently not, and I'm not surprised to see that it's you who's dragged it up again. I'm sure you'll be looking for the first sign of discontent, and this is the post you'll link back to when you tell us that you called it and explain to us just how much more you know about football than the rest of the board. |
Odd post. It is just a normal football conversation don't be so precious and touchy over it or perhaps a football is not a good place for you to hang out

I'd love to you know what happened behind the scenes on 14:41 - Jul 28 by Nthsuffolkblue | There is always more to everything than we know. For example you don't seem to have heard that Nydam got another injury. I suspect injuries have got the better of Lankester too. It is a real testament to Dobra's attitude that he earned his way back into contention and he was one of our better players last night. I think he will give Burns real competition for the right side of midfield. I take from your list that Nsiala is going to replace Edwards as your favourite hate character. If Holy had gone to the bomb squad we would only have one keeper. After last night's performance I would be surprised if we are not looking for another keeper. |
Lankester was signed by a club for a fee, his injury can't be that threatening Dobras attitude presumably didn't really do much to changes the opinion of Cook when they hadn't seen each other You are making a narrative fit opposed to giving answers

I'd love to you know what happened behind the scenes on 14:57 - Jul 28 by PhilTWTD | Norwood I was told initially had been told he could move on, but another source subsequently said otherwise. However, if they received a bid which they felt was reasonable I'm sure they'd have let him go. But I don't think anyone who might be interested would have enough money to do that deal. |
I suppose the key question is what was the deciding factor of paying off or bomb squaring vs keeping in the squad to await a buyer? Also who is genuinely wanting to be retained by PC?

they're different in every way that joe stated. they don't have bumper contracts they don't have long contracts they're not as close to the first team as those 3. i'd still have kept kenlock as back-up, but cook worked with him for a few months and will have his reasons, maybe attitude, maybe style of play. It seems pretty important. Quite drastic measures were taken that either shed light on some horrendous times at the club or pave a wait for future players being managed Let's not just pretend everything is rosy with treating players the roy keane way and let's also be hopefully of not following the Paul jewellery way. Unless you want to happy clap getting our club back with every single change then these are important things to discuss

Trying to make a narrative fit the reality again. There was nothing to suggest those players weren't equally culpable and we also have untried players kept and other untried bombed out.. Performances seems unlikely based on those kept Attitude seems unlikely based on those kept They seem even more unlikely based on some removed

1 year deals left, lower wages, easier to bin off/pay up and less fear of it coming back to haunt us if we decide to go down that path
