Footers was/is a decent bloke, or seemed to be. I didn't agree with him on everything but never had any issues with him. I think the majority on here are OK, and you can agree to disagree as long as you don't start getting personal as that's when it tends to slide downhill.
I'd happily buy him a pint and call him a w*nker if we're in the same part of the big smoke at any point. |  |

Yep, you’re right. He was very grateful and humble about the fundraiser. It was just a bit sad that he bit the dust on here so soon afterwards, but as far as I was concerned he and Sprucey were getting fairly argumentative and dismissive of almost anyone who differed from their opinion. This place has generally been a better place the last few weeks, IMHO. |
I think it's been for the poorer. Seems a lot less interesting lately with hundreds of inane posts on exactly the same topics. |  |

That's very much footers. He will argue his point to the hilt in the same way to friends as he does with people he doesn't see eye to eye with. Many a harsh word and downvote about my gammon and salad rule in the past - but then friends in the field of alfresco dining and modern law and social media litigation.
Too many people on the internet hold grudges and don't treat discussion on a topic by topic basis - tribalism spreading social blight upon our common sense. | |

Indeed. I am obviously biased in this case - but I do often say that losing people on the board is rarely a benefit overall, especially when they're good conversationalists. I do hope to see Jeera come back soon myself, as he would often send a reassuring PM during the witching hour when life was going pretty sh*t. |

It's a real pity that Paz only got the boot (or chose to leave, not sure which it was) after Spruce voluntarily left, since it was mostly Paz's incessant trolling/baiting & faux "innocence" that was allowed to go on for literally years (because he was so disingenuous & careful to not use abuse or racism directly himself) which understandably got Spruce's goat. There were times when Spruce knew he was reacting too much, and spending more time than he wanted to on here (we were buddies & often PM'd).
Sprucey's going seemed to have something of a domino effect - solidarity vote with their feet, maybe. |  |
