You do make the latter inadvertently easy when you’re slagging the team off 17 seconds after we’ve just won on a Saturday evening to be fair.

I’m not ‘credible’? In what way? I attend almost every game home and away and watch as much football as the rest of the forum. I’m not sure you can judge who is and isn’t credible. We’re all Ipswich fans. We’re all the same.

Also, can I just point all threee of those posters are respectful to opposing views and manage to get their point across without it becoming about them. You could learn a thing or two.

The abuse tends to only head in one direction between us. Have a look back at which way

To be credible you surely have to watch games and give a real view on where it works or it doesn't. Not sure saying we are getting better really counts.

I don't think anyone credible was rabid anti Mick or pro Lambert they tended to be able to assess what was actually being delivered. Perhaps if anyone that was could see the light and acknowledge where they had it wrong then there is possibly hope

Like many others I was feeling a bit uncertain a few games ago, let’s not fool ourselves here though, there is still much to do and a consistent run of results is still a big question mark.

Will be happy to see PC succeed, that’s what all of us want.

I'll be delighted to see him succeed, sadly he had shown no signs of achieving that. We are no further along. There is always a point where you have to say it hasn't worked especially when it was seen as needing to get out of a division straight away

You could end up being right, I hope not, but nothing is certain. For me right now I’m behind him because that’s what we need right now. Closer to Christmas with no real tangible progress then that will be a different matter.

Interesting thread. Have to say the issue here (for me) is that you’ve nailed your colours to the mast, have a view (which is fine), but one that is very tunnelled and one dimensional, which football circumstance never is, and one that ignores all abundantly obvious contraries to that view.

Let me start. It’s not all roses so far. Disappointed as much as anyone that we couldn’t get a song from the end of last season period. No new manager lift when one could have given us a shout of a run at the playoffs. Never in my life have I seen the 0-0 situation, and players so disinterested. It needed a cull / reset, but feel that period could have been handled better.

This season, we have a pattern of play (plan) for the first time in what feels like since Burley. It is only one plan, but it’s about time we imposed a clearly higher quality team on others rather than what has seemed the other way around for an eon.

We work it wide, the football is generally short and sharp, played on the floor, and finally crosses flying into the box for the first time in what seems like an eon. Yes that means passing across the back to retain possession and move teams left to right, but that is the modern game. Every single team on the globe now does this, some now as far as within their own box, which gives me a mild panic attack every time I see it.

Where we’ve so far struggled is out of possession, which is now starting to show improvement, concentration, which has improved but still shows it’s head (see Morsey vs Shrews), and finally mentality when taking or holding a lead. We sit back, think it’s done, and lose our plan and the initiative.

But the football is night and day streaks ahead of what we’ve seen under managers since Keane.

We’re now starting to turn a corner, so for me time to jump on board, and do everything we can to lift us back in the right direction, rather than drill holes in the hull, and revel in undermining what could be.

I’d rather give hope a chance, than continually lament, and that doesn’t mean moments this season have frustrated the hell out me. I just trust come May, we’ll be able to say, it’s happening. The promise and clearly better club stewardship, is finally delivering (this is me in May, not commenting on the now).

Decent post, cheers ykubdont see too many on here.

I understand your sentiment and posting colours to the mast is never easy to decide when. Even I was quite half hearted with my final reluctantly to say Cook out. No one wants him to fail.

Last season cannot he excused for me, a managers ability to get players up for games or a run of games and organised them isna massive part of the skill set. He badly failed last season. That could possibly be excused if this season it was different but the failings still exist

As you say he has 1 plan and hasn't really worked out who plays to that best. There a vast gulf of teams in this league and Sunderland or Pompey away shouldn't see the same tactics as Morecombe or Shrewsbury at home. We have to be cleverer and not sit deep and hit long against scrappy teams

In both seasons we have seen mid game changes from the opposition that have turned the game. So many times you can see the game slipping but Cook hasn't made a tactical change.

The overhyping of the improvement is based on very little

I'm yet to be educated on this little gem.

"Shambert played horrendous football that didn't work, I just called what I saw. The Cook football isn't any better"

This is some take, I mean as football insights go, it's up there with "You'll never win anything with Kids".

Take a step back and actually look at what is being talked about.

It is about watching what is being served up and giving an assessment. Shambert played horrendous football that didn't work, I just called what I saw. The Cook football isn't any better so and he has had 2 different enormous and expensive squads to luck from. The effect of this is we are hanging in the balance for this season, we could make the play offs with a change in performances but top 2 is becoming out of reach. Top 2 was the target

Why does giving an honest assessment of that mean I am trying to just be "I told you so" in the future. It is happening now and has been since last season. Nothing Cook has done on the pitch has been good enough

Ipswich fans have obsessions with the Emperors new clothes and they get really upset when someone points out the naked man. Why wait until we are so far down a direction until we admit it isn't working?

Then why are we squarely in the bottom half of the table for xG, shots on goal, shots on target etc. if we're playing such exhilarating front foot football? There seems to be a real disconnect between what we're actually producing and what some fans say they are witnessing.

Hey Bluefish........... on 10:01 - Oct 13 with 853 viewsdirtyboy

I see last season when Cook came in as utterly disappointing, but there were circumstances that were much deeper than just the players and manager so I'm another, forget that s**t and start this season.

So, currenly we sit 6 points off the playoffs in 14th place..again disappointing, but of the 6 currently occupying where we want to be, we've only played MK Dons and that was a draw.

Surely anyone would want to see what we do in the away games against Plymouth and Wycombe before we start to make any real assessment of where we are?

Performance wise, other than 'parts' I've really enjoyed being back at Portman Road this season after a long hiatus and glad I took a chance on a season ticket and not the sporadic visits in seasons gone by as by and large, we're looking far more easy on the eye.

The passing across the back is acceptable, but that period on Saturday after going ahead was awful, when the intensity just disappears and it all slows down, that needs to change and did, but there's a marked difference in how we play now and most people who i've spoken to who are going, say they're enjoying being there, in spite of some of the results, so clearly there's some entertainment being added which is a part of the process of football, winning clearly the big one though.

Cook stays. I'm not 100% as yet, but i'm certainly enjoying being a fan again despite the horrible start to his tenure (which undoubtedly will be hurting Cook himself more than anyone).

Simply put, a bit more patience and COYB.
