Feel sorry for Norwood. 20:37 - Nov 14 with 10321 views | OwainG1992 | Despite all his antics and there have been a decent amount I generally feel he is a nice guy. Just seen on his Instagram that he's come home and been burgled. What a rubbish time of it he's having currently.

Feel sorry for Norwood. on 08:17 - Nov 15 by BlueBlueBluex2 | Theft is not always opportunistic. The image helped narrow down the property and a quick drive by afterwards would have confirmed. Team then look at social media to determine best time to visit, taking into consideration who is pictured living at the property and who drives what car etc. Worrying thing is the vehicle was on the drive and the perps still proceeded, suggesting they either had full faith in the social media details or they were prepared to face the occupant. Unfortunately “professional” scumbags often target footballers, and no doubt will have done their research thoroughly. Particularly if they know he’s away and do a drive by and see an open window which looks like it may have been the case. Probably invalidates his home and car insurance if a window was left open hence the £5k reward for finding them. Plenty of horrible scum out there who are very well practised in this kind of thing and I very much doubt they’re waiting around for someone to post details on an Internet forum to get the opportunity. Hopefully they’re caught very quickly but I doubt it.

Why does it look like an open window may have been the case?

Feel sorry for Norwood. on 22:57 - Nov 14 by OriginalMarkyP | Someone posted it on here and he got burgled. Burglars are opportunists who don't go through court records and find things in the public domain. They see a social media story about him being away and read a post about where his home address is. This is seriously not cool. Whoever posted his address on here needs to be banned as they clearly an irresponsible imbecile who have no idea where the line is. If it happened to me, I would be talking to my lawyer about whether or not I could seek recompense through taking legal action. |
I am not sure banning imbeciles from here is the way forward....

He’s said that ladder marks were seen next to a window. I can’t imagine thieves choosing to go through a first floor window unless it’s open as it’s far more obvious and more difficult than a ground floor window.

Think you're making a lot of assumptions there without knowing the windows/doors. It might've just been an easier window to break. I don't think the fact he's offering a reward suggests his insurance is invalid necessarily either. Might just be some personal items he really wants back.

Many insurance companies put exemptions in where you effectively advertise that you're going to be away for a period, via social media. Wouldn't surprise me if those clauses are a bit more rigid for professional sportspeople than the likes of you and I.

Absolutely, I don’t know any details so what you’re saying is absolutely plausible, just to my mind, on a house like that all the windows would match and taking a first floor window would seem like the least easy option but who knows. And the reward may well be because he’s lost personal items, again I don’t know, but to my mind the most logical explanation is invalid insurance due to a window open and them being able to access his car keys. But again, the only people who know are the thieves themselves and Norwood. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Didn't Norwood once post a video of him 'breaking into' his house through an upstairs window? Maybe there is a weak point that he unknowingly advertised. But just awful for the bloke, it's such a horrible crime and for someone presumably living alone must be quite frightening

How does that work - if we were playing Sunderland away in an evening game then it is advertised on social media that they are aware by virtue of the team sheet!

Now, what I feel you've done here is mistake me for an insurance expert. I'm not sure how it'd work, but (and I have every sympathy for Nors here, believe me) you're under a duty to mitigate your risks. Given that he has shown on his insta stories him having broken into his own house through an upstairs window and, in this case, the fact that he was out golfing, they may take a bit of a view on this. Just to be utterly clear, the culpable b'stards here are clearly the burglers, not Nors himself. I hope they get what's coming to them.

Regardless of the blokes wealth etc , taking something that isn't yours and particularly in this manner is the worst !

Feel sorry for Norwood. on 12:56 - Nov 15 with 1269 views | N2_Blue | I still beggars belief that people still post personal details on social media that literally invites burglars in. (this is aimed at Norwood himself and other footballers, not Sitters) The number of people who post their whereabouts. that they are about to go on holiday, or holiday snaps while on holiday is like literally giving the keys to your house and saying break in please. It's not just the wealth that is the reason footballers are targetted, they are easy targets because on social media posting and information out in public domain. The check-in feature on SM is one of the dumbest inventions ever. It's like screaming, hey i'm here with my family, so my house is empty and you'll be able to break in unchallenged and have as long as you want to rummage through our stuff. Brainless.

I find it unbelievable that some are posting on twitter that they hope it's not an ITFC fan who has done it to 'make a statement'...some utter tools out there if they honestly think that is a possibility... To be fair, if you set the correct security settings, only your friends list can see this. So unless you are friends with scumbags or professional criminals you are fine. I've never heard of an average joe falling foul of this, only wealthy celebrities who dont have the same sort of privacy settings as they need to advertise their "brand" to anyone who will listen. Norwood does not deserve to be burgled, regardless of his previous behaviour.
