Feel sorry for Norwood. 20:37 - Nov 14 with 10339 viewsOwainG1992

Despite all his antics and there have been a decent amount I generally feel he is a nice guy.
Just seen on his Instagram that he's come home and been burgled.
What a rubbish time of it he's having currently.

There is a level of stupid (at best) you just can't legislate for...whoever posted that is an absolute embarrassment

To be fair, Norwood has posted pictures of his house on social media in the past and his address was made public in court, so nothing that wasn't already in the public domain, but still uncomfortable with that sort of thing being posted. Someone actually did that with me once some years ago.

Someone posted it on here and he got burgled.

Burglars are opportunists who don't go through court records and find things in the public domain. They see a social media story about him being away and read a post about where his home address is. This is seriously not cool.

Whoever posted his address on here needs to be banned as they clearly an irresponsible imbecile who have no idea where the line is. If it happened to me, I would be talking to my lawyer about whether or not I could seek recompense through taking legal action.

Regardless of what anyone thinks of him, whether as a player or person, this is so wrong. No one deserves to be burgled. It's such an intrusion of personal space - I have experienced it first hand and it stays with you.
It seems to happen a lot to football players. There are probably criminal gangs scouring social media looking for opportunities. I hope players get advice on security, trackers, marking goods etc. This should be a responsibility of the agents and the clubs that agree the lucrative contracts.

Was it, or was it just referred to as James Norwood of *insert Suffolk village here*.

I’ve not seen reference to his full address online.

Anyone know why a court would reveal a full address? I’ve seen it in the past when I’ve read an article etc and it feels like it’s asking for trouble.

Agree.

It’s distasteful from Sitters, but Norwood also posted on Instagram he was away all weekend.

Doesn’t he share a house with the ex-Cambridge striker?

The road and village rather than the full address. I've actually seen the photo which was posted and I'm not sure it gave any information which would be helpful to anyone, it's a Google maps shot from well above with no labelling to say where it might be.

For the record, his address was not posted on here.

Neither was a map, as suggested above.

Fair enough. Is it sensible posting details of players houses and personal lives on here? No. Having said that, if you’re the sort of person / people who are going to break into someone’s house and rob their car I don’t suppose you’re casually scrolling through TWTD on some idle afternoon and get inspired to do it. You’ll likely do it anyway and it doesn’t take the brain of Britain to find out where he lives.

Either way, it’s a horrible thing to happen to him. Absolute scumbags whoever is responsible and I hope they’re caught and dealt with ASAP.

Certainly not and if I'd been aware I would have removed it, even if it was a vague from a long way above with no labelling to say precisely where it was.

Agree, awful thing to happen to anyone and I hope the culprits are caught quickly.

An aerial shot was posted on here. Not his address. It's an unfortunate situation and we can learn from it but calling for someone to be banned is a bit OTT. It's far more likely someone saw his social media and found his address by other means than from a random aerial photo.

Not a case of being allowed. I had no idea that it had been posted until someone mentioned your post to me. Unless we're told about posts we can't always know about them.

Not having a go at you Phil, think in this instance we should all collectively had reported it when it was posted as part of moderating the board, myself included.

I very much doubt that it was related but appreciate it doesn't look good given the timings.

Let's not forget that the people that robbed Norwood are the actual problem here. His address is a matter of public record, it's easy enough to know what type of car he has and that he's going to have valuable goods, and he's going to be leaving his house all the time. Footballers are going to be targets unfortunately.

Yeah I think people are overplaying sitters role in this.

He didn’t post an address. He didn’t say where the house was. The google ariel view could have been anywhere in Suffolk.

I would imagine that the minute Norwood’s address was made public after his trial, any clued up villains would have made a note for future reference and took advantage when they saw he was away for the weekend in his insta.

Sitters should have been more careful, but he’s being unjustly crucified on here IMO.

Theft is not always opportunistic.

The image helped narrow down the property and a quick drive by afterwards would have confirmed.

Team then look at social media to determine best time to visit, taking into consideration who is pictured living at the property and who drives what car etc.

Worrying thing is the vehicle was on the drive and the perps still proceeded, suggesting they either had full faith in the social media details or they were prepared to face the occupant.

The road name was posted in that thread.

Regardless of whether his address was in the public domain after his trial, it shouldn't be posted on here, but like I said previously, we should have told him to remove it.
