There's another study you need to debunk ...

Genuinely surprised by that. I would have expected social distancing to be the most effective. Not to criticise mask wearing of course, it's a no-brainer and should be mandatory in public spaces until we've really got this thing under control.

I'm afraid you'll have to remove or edit your post since it contains no train puns.

I do get worried about talking trains on here as we have a fair share of anoraks and you soon realise how out of your depth you are.

Didn't even spot the puns, think I had a bit of tunnel vision. I really think we shouldn't be using this platform to engage in cheap wordplay though.

Saw this earlier but I tend not to post studies anymore since it seems to upset so many people.

The evidence has been there for a while, having more evidence such as this study helps helps to highlight the point that if you're not wearing a mask you need to ask yourself why and undertake some self-reflection.

Talking of trains and masks... I regularly get the train from Bury and it's really getting on my t*ts how many young people are maskless; almost all of them. And these are the same group who are least likely to be vaccinated and most likely to be spreading it.
In light of these findings masks really need to be mandatory again on public transport.

They are mandatory in Scotland. However, ScotRail have advised the Scottish Government that they will not be enforcing the rule as their staff ere getting too much abuse from the massless.

Having travelled into London the other day by train - I have to say, there were more people wearing masks than I had expected, probably about 50%.

Having travelled to London from the south coast and back last week I can confirm it was much much less than that, 20% if you are lucky

Then they need to be as strict as airlines, no mask/no travel, simple as that!

If you’ve been on a flight recently you’ll find 100% compliance for some strange reason!

How can you police that though? At an airport there is a small point of contact where they can have security if needed, on transport there are multiple entry points and many stations with entry points on the way (planes are point to point).

Even when it was mandatory the police did nothing because they simply don't have the manpower.

What we really need here is people to take some personal responsibility so that enforcement isn't needed but unfortunately we now know that is simply something a good proportion of the population aren't going to do.

It's sad that things like fines are needed though.

What more incentive should someone need than the possibility of saving someone's life?

It's a lot easier for airlines to police. Several members of cabin crew to run the plane. Whereas one poor old boy checking tickets has no chance against crowds of pissed up louts on the Glasgow to Stirling train after a night out.
