Austria is going to make having both jabs compulsory 10:37 - Nov 19 with 12638 viewsgiant_stow

in feb next year. Not sure how I feel about that personally... extreme persuasion would probably have been better.

Has anyone ever looked at their own postings for last day or so? Oh my... so sorry. Was Ullaa

Of course your statement is correct but they are making a choice. The Mandate gives them no choice ...

Totally different scenario.

They do have a choice. Parents have a choice as to have their children educated or not. They might not like the alternative choice but they do have the choice.

I'm really struggling to see the reasoning behind not having a vaccine for a virus that practically shut the world economy for months and killed millions.

The covid vaccines are proven to be safe and effective, so again, really struggle with why anyone wouldn't have them.

A virus with a 99% survival rate?

The jab is still in the experimental phase. Or can you point to the data for long term affects please?

Quite. Do you, or does anyone, know if this is a one-off, or is it a law being put on their statute book that could apply in future when a different government might be running things? That would be even more alarming.

Not sure on that to be honest, suspect it would be temporary under their equivalent of the coronavirus act. Either way it is wrong though.

Yeah it could all kick off big time. I'm not sure any govt should demand people get jabbed - really tricky moral stuff though.

The thing is it's not yet known what the alternative choice is to having the jab .... yet.

Which brings us full circle to my first post on this thread. What will be the punishment for those that refuse?

I can't see how compulsory vaccination could work in practice in any democratic country.
You can't inject someone against their will and I can't see how you could imprison them if they refuse.
That only leaves fining them or confining them to their house.

Confining them to their house is just lockdown though isn't it. If fines don't get paid I guess it would be prison so yes, I guess they would be imprisoned for not getting jabbed.

Who knows ...

The articles I'm reading confirm that: fines in the first instance, prison for non-payment. How big are Austria's prisons?

Nuremberg Code.

Most people want to be left alone to live their lives with as little interference from the state as possible. When you do what these Governments are doing, good people will rise with a vengeance.

What we are seeing from Governments is fascism. It will end with uprisings across the world.

Give over you massive fanny.

Frankly, if you don't want to engage in behaviours that make society better and safer then you don't deserve to live in it.

I'm sure the people of Austria will be absolutely fine with that.

It's not like there has already been mass protests or anything.

I have to prove I am jabbed to get into PR. The way to go would be to make production of proof that you are vaccinated to get into any public gathering, restaurant, pub etc mandatory. People then have the choice as to whether they have "something injected into their bodies". They would keep their "freedoms" if they decide not to but would reduce the risk to the rest of us and keep hospitals and funerals at a lower level.

Did anyone see that bloke outside Ipswich Station on Look East last night? "I won't wear a mask on trains etc unless the law says I must." Selfish or what?

Fines can be taken forcibly in some countries.

The Nuremburg Code relates to medical experimentation, not a fully developed vaccination campaign.

A better parallel would be things such as laws against drink driving, which, on a basis of public health and safety, circumscribe the behaviour of the citizenry. Was that "fascism"? How many uprisings were provoked?

They're not being 'forced' and it isn't 'anything'.

If they don't want to take a medically proven vaccine for a killer virus then they're free to leave.

That's totally different. It bans people from doing something. This is making people do something which some just will not do.

In that case it is more akin to having to pass a test anf get a licence before being allowed to drive a vehicle on the public road.

True to a degree, but only in the extreme. Has any democratic country ever affectively kicked citizens out for any reason?

Everyone's looked past my earlier point about the Universal Human Rights Declaration - was that because it was a very stupid contribution and you're all being kindly in ignoring it?!

Obviously I'm no lawyer, but it seems relevant.

Drink driving is not a good example imho - no one *has* to drive and certainly no one has to drink drive.

You have to remember luv that TWTD is very authoritarian - both those who think they are right wing and those who think they are left - and only becoming more so and the idea of compulsory vaccines or leave the country is very appealing to many here.
I have no doubt at all that compulsory vaccines won’t happen in Austria or anywhere but what will happen is banks Amazon airlines cinemas restaurants pubs theatres and many other public spheres privately owned will refuse to serve people who can’t prove they are double jabbed. Which is fine by me.
