Sam Morsy 08:02 - Dec 8 with 5997 views | IPSWICHFANITFC | Not sure if there is a thread already, apologies if so. The alarm bells were there when he said he didn't want to leave Middlesbrough upon joining here. The alarm bells were there when he said he joined because of the manager, not the club itself. His performance last night was absolutely disgraceful, and as captain of our football club, that was beyond unacceptable. He didn't look interested, he lacked effort, he didn't give his CB's an option to take the ball off them, didn't make a tackle, didn't lead as a captain, didn't give a s***. He doesn't deserve to play again for this club based on his attitude and application last night. Fair enough, there's 8 or 9 others who I could mention too, but he's the captain and will be drawn out.

Sam Morsy on 08:06 - Dec 8 with 4720 views | Dubtractor | It was mentioned a few times last night, but the board has been busy since then! It was a disgusting performance from him. The lack of tracking runners from him and Evans was a major part of why Charlton kept creating chances.

Sam Morsy on 08:11 - Dec 8 with 4671 views | itfcserbia | Yes, you could mention many others and you rightly should. Celina for example have multiple times this season shown how uninterested he is culminating with that disgraceful penalty (both before and after miss). It was my fear from the summer that these "higher-league" players won't be motivated to give all in League 1. Not saying that is in any way acceptable but could have been somewhat expected. Imagine Celina who played last season against PSG, Monaco, Marseille and now goes to Cheltenham and Morecambe. I don't mean any disrespect to these places but he and others clearly demonstrate it. Morsy included. Just look at his comments after Accrington he basically called them an awful non-league club. Disgraceful.

Sam Morsy on 08:11 - Dec 8 with 4652 views | chicoazul | Morsy is an international, well respected in the game, captained his clubs, has enjoyed promotions, comes across well in the media and by all accounts is a good dude. And yet he is playing like a cr@p Tony Dinning. What is the answer? I don’t know.

I will just leave this here. Take a read. Morsy: We Let Ourselves Down 3rd Oct 2021 10:58Skipper Sam Morsy admitted that he and his team-mates let themselves down as they were beaten 2-1 at Accrington Stanley, whose “horrible” approach he compared to a non-league side. 55

George Edmundson for me. He's playing like it means something to him.

The Celina scapegoating is starting to p*as me off. He's been one of our best players this season since getting back towards full fitness and the stats back that up. Given no preseason and covid complications he's only just getting there and getting better most matches. I don't care about a penalty in the pizza cup even if it was rubbish. He's delivering in the league now. SB [Post edited 8 Dec 2021 8:34]

I'm with you Stokie. He's not perfect, but one of the players for us who consistently makes things happen. We'd be twice the attacking force with him and Burns back in the team.

Stats for lost balls such as unsuccessful dribbles and misplaced passes? He's top 3 in the league in those. Too bad there's no stat for not tracking back or disappearing in games. He gives you a wonder goal here and there and that's all.

Yeah, we’d be close to the relegation zone if it wasn’t for Celina. Even in the much heralded Wycombe game we were getting slapped for 20 mins until he came up with a goal from no where.

It isn't a new issue though as they have both been like that all season! Too many times this season we have seen teams just walk through our midfield like they arent even there! It is an issue which will need to be addressed pretty sharpish by the new person in charge.

Utter rubbish. His completed passes is up there at the top of the squad, he has the most assists and third most goals. Sometimes I really don't know what some of our fans watch or what they expect. SB [Post edited 8 Dec 2021 8:51]

He's not the only one, but I wouldn't be sad to see Morsy leave in January. He looks like he needs a fresh start already.

Evans was beyond bad. Get El Mizouni in there on Saturday, at least he has some balls.

It's almost as if certain players at the club are being judged on more than just the football that they play.

Sam Morsy on 18:12 - Dec 8 with 3195 views | AlanG296 | Didn't ask to leave Middlesbrough, didn't want to drop a division, only came here for Cook, who hyped him up as the man who would make a difference to his insipid underperforming team. Has been as insipid as the rest. No sign that he's a leader. Give the captaincy to George and get Ashton to start hawking Morsy around and get rid ASAP.

We’re missing Burns massively imo. Gives proper width.

Sam Morsy on 18:26 - Dec 8 with 3128 views | jayessess | I'm wary of these sorts of threads. We're bad as a unit and a badly organised team. I think in those circumstances it's really easy to mistake everything being a total shambles for a lack of effort. I'd be surprised if Sam Morsy doesn't realise that what remains of his career is in Ipswich Town's hands. No one wants to pay big money for a 30-year-old defensive midfielder who can't take control of games in League One. We're stuck with each other and he'll know that. He was poor yesterday, but it's highly unlikely that "not giving a sh1t" is the reason why.

Yep. Doesn't want to be here. Think Evans is trying his hardest he just isn't of high enough standard. In fact the only decent players we have are Walton (championship quality easily). Edmunson is probably lower championship. Aluko is a cut above, Burns a good league 1 player and Celina is a different class as well. That's it. 5 players who are good enough to play for us out of 19 recruits. Donacian would probably get a look in as well if he has Burns or Aluko ahead of him.

Are you suggesting that a Serbian fan may have a problem with a Kosovan player? Surely not.

Sam Morsy on 18:29 - Dec 8 with 3095 views | Nthsuffolkblue | The alarm bells for me were more that Middlesbrough were desperate to move him on. He was clearly being paid more than he was worth to them or other clubs who could afford him. That said, I think he is a very good player who the new manager can build something around without any tie to him having to be the first name on the team sheet. It is not in Morsy's interests to play poorly or the team to fail.

That will be an interesting analysis to revisit once the new manager has sorted out a team and tactics.
