Guthrum's Calculated Final Table 09:59 - Feb 9 with 2632 viewsGuthrum

A version thereof based around 8-game form.

I would do a proper Estimated one, but that would mean taking into account the period which got Cook sacked and McGreal's not universally successful tenure. Which does not, IMO, provide a fair reflection of our present trajectory. This format concentrates more on how the other teams are doing right now, too.

The table:

Yes. But we only have five more games left against teams currently above us in the table.

Sunderland in 10th! I haven't been paying attention, I thought they were going well.

They've lost the last 3 on the bounce, conceding 10 and scoring just 2 consolation goals in that period...

In 2022, they've had 1 win, 2 draws and 4 defeats.

They've won just once in the last seven games, drawing two and losing four.

That's a bit out of date, was followed by wins against Doncaster and Crewe.

We're actually going at 2.25 since McKenna took over, but have fewer matches left than most, which is why it looks lower in that table.

Yes picked up an out of date form table

That does look like a Plymouth returning to form

Think Sheff Weds will be finishing strongly along with Bolton.

Wycombe and Sunderland to drop out perhaps

Nah if Ipswich won a playoff semi final in my current hometown, the subsequent night I'd spend on West Street would be phenomenal.

I survived Ipswich 0-0 Burton

Much improved work, young man, you are excused detention on Saturday...

Last night I was looking at the Third Division table as the results unfolded and it struck me that there are now three or four groupings: we are at the bottom of the top nine and then there is a five point gap before a chasing pack from tenth down to sixteenth, some of whom have games in hand and a realistic chance of making the play-offs if fortune favours them elsewhere with form dropping off for teams above. The relegation places look set to be battled out by the teams currently in the bottom six, with Lincoln and Shrewsbury perhaps in limbo and already with little to play for other than pride.

This seems to be borne out by your prediction, Rotherham maybe in a group of one and promotion certainties, Bolton leaving the chasing pack but missing out on the play-offs all the same. Lincoln getting results good enough to feel safe soon plus Fleetwod and Morecambe extricating themselves from the dogfight at the bottom.

Let's hope that a savage new variant of COVID-19 doesn't emerge and cause the season to be suspended and decided on the places held at that time...

Shame though, I quite fancied getting Sunderland in the Play-Offs. A Tuesday night game, under the lights of Hillsborough though...tempting!
