Agreed you are spot on 100%. Generally the scientific community don't support the Govs current stance.

A very good mate of mine who is a true blue on 18:41 - Mar 19 by homer_123 | Very sorry to hear about your mum. |
Thanks. She reached the grand old age of 94, this was her first hospital admission, and I think she would have preferred to go quickly rather than lose her independence. Having said that, I often hear it said that it is only the old that die of Covid, and they would have died anyway. But even for a 94 year old, life expectancy is 97,

It's no longer the law but it is Government advice, as I mentioned in my earlier post. [Post edited 19 Mar 2022 18:54]

A very good mate of mine who is a true blue on 18:22 - Mar 19 by gtsb1966 | Is it though. We are now being told that the flu is a bigger risk than COVID. If you have a temperature and a headache should you cancel everything in case it's flu. It's a hard one. |
I don’t think you’ve understood what’s been said. Although flu seems to be more lethal than the Omnicron variant for most people, Omnicron is far more transmissible and therefore killing many more people than flu ever does. Long covid is also becoming a bigger issue. Also you’re wrong about being back to normal. The official guidance is to stay at home if you test positive. https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus

Not had a chance to speak. Having seen his pics on FB I have messaged him........just can't understand going to a footy match when testing pos. I know the 'rules' have been completely relaxed but it really doesn't sit well with me at all.

I'm usually wrong. The government stance though has definitely made a large number of people apathetic towards COVID now and thinking testing is a waste of time. I think the vaccine has made millions less cautious and in a way I can understand why.

Join the club! The government’s PR has certainly muddied the waters. You’d never guess mask wearing and self isolation are still advised when they’ve gone out of their way to simultaneously give the impression it’s all over. The trouble, as ever, is they’re always in campaign mode worried more about optics, votes and donations.

If you go in the supermarkets now I would say the mask wearing has dropped by 70% at least since the government said we don't have too. It has around here anyway.

It's just so incredibly counter-productive! Instead of having one employee work from home or off sick for 5-10 days, you potentially end up with Covid ripping through your entire office with all the immediate effects on health and productivity, as well as the added complication that some might develop long-term health issues. Just a massive false economy all round.

Yep it's been stupid We had 1 mid Feb positive staff member . Came in as no symptoms. We've got 4 in office positive but no symptoms. 3 off sick showing symptoms.

I trust that the Union is insisting that anyone who is themselves vulnerable or has relatives/dependants who are can work from home or have paid leave whenever they are in. Schools are telling staff and students who test positive to stay home and encouraging regular testing to continue. But this is also the problem with British presenteeism/workaholic culture. I pity you and your fellow employees. I do know what it is like to work for callous uncaring employers.

A very good mate of mine who is a true blue on 18:22 - Mar 19 by jeera | It's been two years and there's still people like you who don't understand the reason for a face covering is primarily to control what comes out, not what goes in. By your logic you don't bother to cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze usually because it's fine to spit your filth over other people. It's not hard. |
Most mask wearers may as well not bother as they wear non medical masks, the cloth things - these are useless, you may as well not wear one. Because of this they have to be sold as fashion masks.

They’ve never done much because only about 2% wear N95s or better, thankfully the rules are changing for planes now as well.

How many people go on message boards moaning about people not wearing masks and then sit in a football stadium without a mask. 99% I would say. Were all the people who were saying they got it at Portman Road wearing a mask when they got there, all through the game and until they were clear of the ground. Of course they weren't. N95 is technically an FFP2 over here - and then we go up to FFP3 but that's usually for surgeons and the like I think, I forget. Even the blue surgical have different grades. The cloth masks are completely pointless.

So much theatre throughout this entire thing to be honest. I went in a place at the end of last year where they said you had to wear a mask to walk through the restaurant, order at the bar or go to the toilets. If you’re sat at the bar drinking and eating though, no problem. So much science to unpack there. Obviously my opinion gets shot down on here because it doesn’t fit the TWTD narrative but I do think locks downs, travel bans (at least after the first wave) will be viewed as a policy disaster in years to come. Maybe my career made me a little bias but still. [Post edited 19 Mar 2022 20:19]
