It's downright patronising that this twerp thinks he's offering advice to people who he has no affinity with whatsoever.
"Buy cheaper produce". You don't say rich boy.
Thanks for that, it would never have occurred to anyone that cheaper products might cost less. As though he's just solved some problem by telling people what they already know.
That he's even had the will to say those words to the worse-off shows what a **** he is.
Yes, it’s the fact that a millionaire patronising twerp said it as much as anything else that grates. Why say it? Did he really think it’d help? He will be suggesting the plebs order a slightly smaller Fortnums Hamper for Christmas next. Tool.

He said it because he wants certain people to vote Tory. E.g the type that think there is an undeserving poor, that are feckless and stupid. He isn’t offering advice, he is amplifying a view. He needs to keep those people onside. The narrative being the Tories are helping and doing all they can for, you know, certain people, but really, they need to help themselves at some point.

Started with Dave's Victorian values being trotted out as a new thing didn't it? We do free toast and juice at our place in the mornings and it's not only really important, but resented by certain people who it has f'all to do with.
You'd think the foodbank numbers in this country would be a source of shame, not taken as "world-beating" but when you see stuff like this, it's another dot in an ideology and symptomatic of their elitist bubble isn't it?

No.
This is the new 'people on benefits all have sky and have loads of money for beer and fags'.
It's assuming that decent, hard-working people, who are struggling like hell to keep their heads above water are spending £4 on M&S finest chocolate bourbons when they are in fact already buying the 39p equivalent from Lidl or Aldi.
People aren't generally stupid. We all know how easy it is to throw a load of veg and a bit of cheap meat in a slow cooker (assuming you have one) but it now costs more to run the bloody thing that it would to buy an expensive ready meal.
People aren't letting their kids starve because they are frittering on luxury goods. They are going for the cheapest everything and still not being able to manage because of the state of this country under Tory rule.
Not sure it’s completely the Tories fault that the price of energy and petrol has gone through the roof which is causing the associated increase in food prices...

So if they really wanted to help the poorest out, why are they refusing to put a windfall tax on the energy sector? Even the Chairman of BP said a tax on their £5bn quarterly profit wouldn't affect any investment plans.

Thankfully the emergency services don't share your view on things. Perhaps you are a brexiteer (they aren't very bright either)
Talking of which
"Energy bill payers will be able to take advantage of a government discount on gas and electricity bills for a further three months, as the government has extended the current ‘Social bonus for electricity and gas’ or ‘Bonus sociale energia elettrica e gas’ to the third quarter of 2022." Italy
"The French government will force EDF, the state energy giant, to take an €8.4bn (£7bn) financial hit to protect households from rocketing energy costs by limiting bill hikes to 4% this year."
Even that bastion of 'master knows best' anti EU propaganda the Express has - "In Europe, governments across the continent have moved to help their citizens, employing a range of measures that go a step further than the UK"
No wonder the rich elite funded UKIP, to get the UK out of something that looked after its citizens.

No but maybe doing something worthwhile about it would be helpful.
I think most people recoil when told that buying unbranded will save you a few pounds a week when your bills have gone up £300 per month.
Coupled with the fact the Tory leader deemed the taxpayer funded £30k a year wasn’t quite enough to re decorate his house and £200k on wallpaper seemed much more reasonable, while the chancellor and his family amorally but legally evaded £2m per year in tax.
