How do the national league playoffs work now? I noticed the league table on BBC has a dashed line separating the sides in 2nd and 3rd from the sides 4th to 7th, do the lower teams play an extra game before getting to a semi against the teams in 2nd and 3rd? |
Top team automatically promoted as champions - Stockport County. Then, 4th plays 7th and 5th plays 6th. The winners then play 2nd and 3rd (they get home advantage because they finished highest in the league) and the winners of those semi final play offs have a final game at the London Stadium to see who gets the final promotion spot. Therefore, Grimsby are now awaiting the winners of Solihull vs Chesterfield. Phew, think that’s it!! [Post edited 28 May 2022 15:21]
