Think Town fans have got a misconception based on last summer that every player we sign is only going to be good if they come from higher league opposition.
Many too hyped up by the big name signings from clubs higher up, but it's those who come in to do a solid job and are consistent performers that win you titles more than those who come in and score the occasional worldy.
People moaned when Mings and Cresswell signed for that position too. Neither of them turned out too bad. |  | | |  |

Harper will probably be moved on. He'd just played in the Premier League. By contrast, Burns was player of the season having scored 6 goals for a team in 16th in League One.
Then you have Walton, who was absolute quality coming from a higher division and Hladky, the best keeper in League Two, looked completely out his depth.
Fans sadly never learn though. Until the season kicks off we have nothing to judge them on and people will always get more excited by names. That'll never change.
It's the same reason United fans would have been purring over the signing of massive Juventus and France star Pogba, one of their own returning, but none of them would have been getting carried away when they brought some Norweigan nobody striker Solksjaer. | | | |

Same with the £75k we spent on Malacyk. Another punt that either fails and we've spent peanuts, or proves themselves and they are worth 10 or 100 times that.

We've probably not made a signing that at least some people haven't moaned about. I think we just need to trust that the expensively assembled recruitment team like the guy for a reason, and hope he can add some value. He's definitely a good age and has had a very good footballing education so who knows. |  |

Case by case.
Our best performer we bought from 15th place Fleetwood for £150k.
Another signing who hasn’t found his form yet came from West Brom with English youth pedigree, Premier League & Championship experience for £500k, and spent the second half of the season at a relegated Crewe.
Judging before seen seems to be the way of the modern fan.

Fans literally have no idea what's on the dashboard or in the bank. Not sure we can be surprised there's a mixed reaction yet again.
Countless examples of being surprised, disappointed etc. with signings. The biggest thing is we've not had a manager since Mick you'd trust with the cash or the eye to get signings right more often than wrong.
The best thing I can say is Leigh played well against us and was great for me on FM 17 so that's pretty definitive innit. |  |

It's not exclusive to Ipswich, all football clubs have fans that will moan about signings. We are in League one, none of us are going to have much of a clue about players we sign at this level so let's give people a chance and judge after a couple of months | | | |

This you are overstating 'a lot'. I remember very few, if any. The general consensus was everyone expected him to sit in the U21s and see how he develops.
You are right that people moan like hell on here. MarkyP's post about Leigh the immediate one that springs to mind now, but also Makin's infamous 'smarmy' post also springs to mind. |  |
