Tugengdhat, who admittedly has an easier hand to play, is coming out of the C4 'debate' head and shoulders above the rest. Probably means nothing in the race, but the others are all coming across as false bullsh1tters.

Truss certainly didn’t
Pretty pointless poll - needed to ask 1000 Conservative Party members (rather than "normal voters"), and even then their views are worthless until there are just 2 left in the hat...
Regardless of who they eventually choose, wouldn't put it past BoJo to go full on Extinction Rebellion and superglue himself to the desk at No.10
I've only seen the last half hour on +1 so far but Truss is such a poor candidate. Just an awful communicator. Given the 2019 result, I've always been cautious of predicting a Labour win next time, but if she becomes PM I think it will happen.
I wonder if some from the right of the party may consider switching their votes to Badenoch from Truss next week?

Badenoch would be the suicide option - she may have been 'under control' tonight but she would not be capable of dumping the almost far right shy. te she has previously spouted. Unlike the others who will play up to the swivel eyed in their party Badenoch believes the sh.it she spouts.
To talk of Colonialism as being merely 'one group of rulers replacing another' would be condemned outright were it peddled by Lennon-Yaxly or Nick Griffin
Does she seriously think what happened in the Belgian Congo happened before the Belgians arrived ?
She further lies about her childhood, claiming that she experienced poverty - not true as she attended a fee paying school and elsewhere admits she had a middle class childhood.
Although born in the UK in 1980, before returning in 1996, that whole period saw Nigeria riled by a military government, not socialist as she claims
For some one who enjoyed a privileged education she seems determined to deny decent education to others, talking of "the idea that money could be saved by taking resources from “superfluous support staff and peripheral activities” in schools."
Let that, and the implications, sink in. Not increasing funding by ending the tax avoidance of Public schools/universities, but hitting the poorest the hardest
A truly odious woman, following in the footsteps of Thatcher, Currie, Widecombe, Leadsom and Dorries.
And well done to the host Krishnan Guru-Murthy for hammering the question, and not allowing then to waffle on, ognoring the question

He has been calling Johnson out ever since Johnson got the job. I don't necessarily agree with him on other matters. Truss is truly empty and valueless.
To be fair to the bloke, you’re right that he’s been critical of Johnson. He’s nowhere near what we need on other issues, but probably still a less worse option than most of the rest. The thought of Truss trying to run the country is frightening. Trouble is, there’s none in the last group who show any signs of understanding the challenges we face, let alone having plans to tackle them. Nothing will improve with any of this lot. Happy days lol.

This is so fcuking desperate.
Truss comes across like she should be working on the till in your local Co-op.
Annoying I was reasonably impressed with Sunak from what I saw. To be clear that was his ability to speak clearly. I’m not a fan and don’t like him but can see why he’s got a lot of support.

Truss is the woman for whom the word "vacuous" was invented.

It’s a game.
At this present point the contenders have to say what they think their fellow MPs want to hear - once the final two happens they will say what they think the members want to hear.
In many ways at this point it is probably better to say as little as possible.
“Hello, I'm your MP. Actually I'm not. I'm your candidate. Gosh.”

I still haven’t caught up on the rest but from the bits I saw, Tugendhat and Sunak were the best speakers. It does feel like a worse field than in 2019 though - I’m no fan of Gove, Hunt and Javid but they’re superior to Sunak, Badenoch and Truss and the most moderate candidate this time (Tugendhat) is less impressive than Rory Stewart was.

Agreed. Only Tugendhat, who has no chance and Sunak came out of that with any credit at all.
Mordaunt was surprisingly useless, for a supposedly good communicator, Badenoch is weird and Truss is utterly moronic.
