I'm convinced that had we given warnock the job instead of giving Lambert a 5 year contract (having not won in 10 games) we'd have gone up that first season.

I'd have been quite chuffed if Paul Tisdale had got the job when he was linked, there was never anything in it as he was nailed on for the MK Dons job. The reason being his at the time right hand man, Matt Oakley is the brother of a good mate of mine.

Kuqi - I genuinely think he would’ve been terrible but compared to some of the others stealing a living here, his heart and passion wouldn’t been fun to watch.
Burley & Dyer combo after Mick. Think it would’ve eased things a little but Evans would’ve tarnished their memory by providing buttons to buy players.

At the time ...
- Mark Warburton. Good fit, and think he would have done well with our less mature players (Downes, Dozzell, Bishop, Lankester etc)
- Warnock. I'm sure he would have got enough out of the squad to get us promoted from L1 instead of Lambert.
In hindsight...
- Graham Potter. I didn't know anything about him though when it was rumoured.
Not Mowbray though. It never felt like the right time, and under Evans I suspect it would have more likely hurt his managerial career and relationship with the fans. Don't think it will now ever happen. |  | | |

I know everyone will say it’s blue tinted specs, hasn’t managed in years blah blah but knowing how much he wanted it, and with the remit of a bit of a shoestring rebuild, some talented yoofs in the ranks at the time, a necessary switch in playing style and a completely disengaged fan base and dwindling attendances, I thought he would’ve been a good option. Perhaps his black book was a little dated but I thought he had most of what he needed in the building anyway.
