Makes you proud to be British doesn't it? on 13:10 - Sep 16 by MattinLondon
Typically GlasgowBlue is being over-the-top in order to make his point. Most republicans realise that they are in the majority with their preferred outcome of the UK becoming a republic decades away. Instead most want to see a much more streamlined monarchy and royal family.
I don’t recall a post on here stating that the country will become a republic soon. I’m short, no one is going ‘mad’ due to the monarchy being popular as we all know that it is.
Obviously posters can be royalist if they want to be and I’m, and others, are allowed to call it a ridiculous outdated conceited.
GSTK - despite very few of them actually believing in God.

In your desperation to have a pop at ol’ Glassers, you have mistakenly typed majority instead of minority.
Always happy to help the over excited republicans.

Uppied in terms of accuray to Andrew's position, although that's bit harsh on BL. He's only pointing out what people are saying and wasn't claiming it was true or not (and besides, the part about it being a disgrace that Andy is afforded protections the rest of us wouldn't get is disgusting). But yes, the CoS position is being wrongly represented.
Your ire would be well-directed a the tweet author. Have you seen his bio - "Leading Criminal Defence Lawyer". No wonder our legal system is in a mess! A "leading" lawyer, but can't be arsed to get facts right.
In the context of his post accusing sitters of being “proud to have a friend of a convicted paedo as a Counsellor of State” I think it was far from harsh.

Not true. Andrew is a councillor due to an act of Parliament. The King has no say. Only our elected MP’s can overturn this.
Getting fed up with people constantly linking fake news without bothering to check the facts. You’re not Harry10 ffs.
Fake news?
Tell me what's fake about the guy's tweet?
Andrew has been appointed, Charles did the appointing. That's what you have in our monarchy - a bunch of stupid rules that mean people like Andrew get appointed to his position.
You may not like it, (I know I don't) but calling it fake rather feels like a few of you are in denial of how our Monarchy actually works Glassers.

Evidence has been provided to show that Charles had nothing to do with appointing Andrew in this.
Please could you point to any evidence that shows the contrary.
This has nothing to do with support or otherwise for monarchy.

This exchange is a good example of what I meant earlier on about needlessly provoking others. Surely we can do better than this?
you must be new here. if people didnt have a exchange of different views, whatever the subject it wouldn't be one of the best football and other subjects forum there is.
forensic experts say footers and spruces fingerprints were not found at the scene after the weekends rows

Translation of "new" in this context - "at least two other usernames before this one".
What it does show is how messed up the system is and why it needs removing. It's bad enough we have sex offenders in government already, but something like the monarchy people are telling us is a source of pride etc. means shrugging it off is tacit support.
Andrew should be allowed to grieve, not rehabilitated in any official capacity or allowed a single privilege.

Nail on head.
Then blame the politicians. Not the King.
It wasn’t the king who passed the Regency Act 1937, as amended in 1943. By my reckoning we’ve had 33 governments since then who have had an opportunity to further amend it.

I don’t suppose it mattered before Andrew. It didn’t matter when the Queen was alive because nobody knew about it or cared. There was no way they were all going to be bumped off leaving Andrew.
As it goes, I’m sure it’ll be changed. It has to. As for Andrew scrounging free stuff as he’s done all his life, I’m not sure who he’s going to scrounge from unless he does what the Duke of Windsor did or Harry is doing now - live off dishing the dirt.
Either way, he’s finished. Hopefully.

....in that position for decades.
That's what's been confusing about the uproar, it's not a new thing.
As I noted previously, we quite rightly won't hear of him again after his Mother's funeral.

Interesting to hear first hand experiences thanks. I would have assumed it’s mostly full of rubbish because you only see the rubbish posted in places like here for people to laugh at. I guess all the more informative niche stuff doesn’t make the headlines. I used it to check the timetables of Swansea Airshow in the summer and it worked a treat!
"you only see the rubbish posted in places like here for people to laugh at".
There's plenty of good stuff posted from it on here as well. However, there is a constant assertion by a handful of people on here that it's a "cesspit" or "swamp", which repetition seems to be reinforcing the false picture of it.
No-one's denying that it has a nasty facet, the consequence of a minority of unpleasant people sh1tstirring, same as can happen in this place, but the many other facets are excellent, & in the majority, same as this place.
It is more difficult to get going on there, people don't know who's good to follow, so end up starting with what's trending, which is probably the worst place to start. Perhaps I should compile a suggestion list comprising the top 100 of my fav scientists, environmentalists, sport, arts, political & social good guys n' gals for people to follow, if they want a starting point.
