"OK folks. You know I'm a bit of a rogue and a rascal, and I got caught out partying when I shouldn't have been. But look, I got Brexit done and Covid beat and the pound in your pocket was never in danger whilst I was in charge".
i've got stick on here for not going with the crowd and not being in a constant state of hysteria about the government over the past 3 years, but if boris stands, let alone wins, it will be the maddest thing i've ever seen in uk politics. if he wins there will be a melt down unlike anything we've seen to this point. it is off the scale lunacy.
And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

Gonna be fascinating seeing how the party of chaos and disorder comes to terms with it's choice over the next few days.
Has anyone ever looked at their own postings for last day or so? Oh my... so sorry. Was Ullaa

i think boris now has it in his power to destroy them. if he runs, the division will be so extreme you can start to believe that enough of them might just give up and back a no confidence motion. we are in the realm of the previously unthinkable now being increasingly plausible.

Not sure there is much of an "if" now, he wants to run and he seems to have the support.
At least 12 MPs have said they will resign the whip if he becomes leader and I suspect there might be plenty more with that mindset.

i really can't get my head around his rationale for running - surely he must know the whole parliamentary party, and his majority, is going to blow up around him. even for a power crazed egomaniac it's going to be a car crash.

Well, he's a megalomaniac, he doesn't care about the parliamentary party or his majority. He just cares about what is best for Boris at this exact moment, hence all the parties during lockdown and his frequent misdemeanours.

My contempt for the Tory party cannot get any higher How insular, arrogant, immoral and delusional can they be to think it's ok to bring back a disgraced former PM, still being investigated who is a proven liar and unfit personality??
It's beyond belief - they deserve to never get into govt again Thought Ben Wallace was meant to be one of the more sensible ones? I am genuinely shocked as well as furious and disgusted

It's very symbolic for what they've become - immoral, self-serving, unserious. He's shown utter contempt (again) for his constituents since leaving the premiership in disgrace, by being on holiday and the speaking circuit instead of representing them. How anyone can think he's become contrite and has changed is beyond me. He'll never change. His cheerleaders are quite mad.

Ben Wallace has been a superb Defence Secretary and has handled the support for Ukraine brilliantly.
But his support for Truss, and now Johnson, shows that he has very poor judgement.

Who is going to do the melting?
"They break our legs and tell us to be grateful when they offer us crutches."
the half of the tory parliamentary party that threw him out 4 months ago i would guess.

No one can surely believe that Boris cares about them and their interests, I guess a lot of people just don't care because they think he is funny

Having read the rest of your comments it is apparent that you mean the party and not the public. Johnson obviously has faith that the people love him and will return him to his rightful place. My wish would be mass civil disobedience before that point demanding an election but I can't see it happening. People are either too run down with the daily grind or too busy on twitter!

If he’s the answer, then it shows how bad a state this country is in and the lack of genuine leaders the Tories have. Politics appears to be at such a low level, we are crying out for some leadership especially during this difficult period to govern this country, but yet our Government seems in complete chaos.
