I dint think it’s an indication that he won’t stand again. Nadine Dorries went on I’m a Celebrity in 2012, lost the whip and was in the cabinet less than ten years later.
The Tories were in power then (not according Braverman), they are facing the worst wipe out in their history. He won't be the only rat looking for a way off that stinking ship.

Unlike some other Tories, I don't think he's got much in the way of money as it looks like he was only a civil servant and special adviser before Parliament. And with a divorce settlement to fund, I rather doubt he can survive on an MP's salary. The reported £350,000 for I'm a Celebrity will no doubt come in handy but I'm sure he wants more. Interesting to see that he was until a couple of days suggested as a possible candidate for Chair of the Treasury Select Committee which would no doubt have opened up opportunities in the City. The fact that he has opted for TV suggests he found out he wouldn't get the role.
In any event, with his ego, I doubt he would be content as a mere backbencher, whatever his financial situation and the prospects for the Tories.

Have people seriously got nothing better to do with their lives?
Have you read it? There are thousands of people out there who lost loved ones partly due to his incompetence, reckless lack of care & possible corruption during the early days of Covid, who are understandably aggrieved & very upset that he's being given this opportunity to big up the sales of the book he wrote about it.
Not to mention him joining in #Partygate, breaking the very rules he & his govt. had made.

Let him go in and vote him to do all the trials and then vote him first out I say.

Yep, cos that’ll learn him. He’ll get his 6 figure fee whether he lasts a week or sees it out to the bitter end. I’m more concerned with how much it’s going to cost daveU in text votes to keep him in…

Andy Drummond, deputy chairman of the West Suffolk Conservative Association, said he was looking forward to seeing Mr Hancock "eating a kangaroo's penis".

I'll watch if Nick Davies agrees to go on the show as well, and spends the whole 2 weeks wearing down Matt Hancock until he admits to all the shady deals that he and his mates were part of during the pandemic...

I was not justifying his position but merely explaining the actions of people like him who think it is their divine right to earn lots of money when their Ministerial career is over. And who use all their connections, to achieve it.

Whip suspended…
[Post edited 1 Nov 2022 11:07]
Why was the whip not suspended from Johnson when he was sat on his backside on the beach whilst Parliament was in session? I can't really see the difference.

From the same article:
'"I haven't lost my marbles or had one too many pina coladas," he wrote.'
Which is very easy to say if you never had any marbles to begin with...
