A wind up presumably - but like all wind-ups there is a strong element of truth in this. It takes a certain amount of pragmatism to escape division three’s clutches - which bigger and more successful clubs than Ipswich have cottoned on to over the years. To ratch up the wind up a tad further you could add Town’s vast backroom staff - all inexperienced at the fag end of league football - and more Barcelona Lite than learning from the promotion expertise of giants such as Wigan, Rotherham - and Posh. | |

We were short of being a playoff side when KM joined, now we're much closer to the top than to 7th. So, for Kieran McKenna, we can think about what Sir Alex Ferguson might have done in a similar situation. Sir Alex always found a way to come out 'on top' of the controversial moments.
Examples:
1. Letting Hillsborough crowd getting away with intimidation of our players and the officials by throwing missiles on to the pitch, specifically at Christian Walton.
2. Offered a re-match by the referee with thickening fog when the score was Oxford 1 Ipswich 1 at 55 - 60 mins.
Sir Alex:
1. Take his players off, force the abandonment, and take the Sheffield Wednesday 0 Ipswich Town 3 awarded result, which the referee, by speaking to Darren Moore and KMcK, had in his armoury to default to - but he had to be pushed in this direction with a bit more 'steel'.
2. Take the option to replay the match having 'seen' how Oxford were adapting better to the conditions.

The Lincoln player 'initiating the contact' for their 'penalty' at Sincil Bank - knowing of course, that the referee had just warned us about it. Again, KMcK, we need to do some of this ourselves, it's TOTALLY against the Ipswich way, but, without it, 'division three's clutches' will not let us go.
I think Kieran McKenna is far too nice, and needs to 'grow up' fast, and stop other managers and referees getting the better of him. But I'm still 100% behind him, he just needs to develop these so called 'skills' very quickly. |  | | |
