What other players over the years spring to mind as an outstanding performance would you name.
I remember Paul Mariners debut v WBA as a starter

Finidi George. Never seen a debut like it, especially from a 53 year old!!!

No way, I believe we were playing against 10 men that night and he had acres of space when he scored that goal

Grant Ward

There's a player who started on fire before gradually tapering out

MM definitely got the best out of average players but I also think could also suck the life out of the more talented ones if they didn't have an engine and weren't doing their defensive work

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

Sam Morsy vs Doncaster on 10:04 - Jan 25 with 3189 viewsDyland

Yeh, Donny were pants, but Morsy looked like a computer game where one team/player are a few levels above the other. I was transfixed by his play. Never lost the ball, drove forward, always found a teammate. I tried to find comparisons with Town legend midfielders but couldn't.

Yes I know it's division three. And no, I'm not saying he's better than Thijssen or Magilton or whoever just because they don't really compare. Different players innit.

I remember Ian Marshall having a decent debut and going on to score in the next 10+ games in a row.

Paul Goddard's full debut in 1991 when he scored both goals in a 2-0 win against Hull.

MIke Pollitt was memorable but not an outstanding performance. And Mark Fish, well...

I sat next to an old boy last night (maybe in his 70s?) but it was such a delight to see how excited he was with Clarke. He turned to me at one point and said, "I think we've found ourselves a right back..."

I'm old enough to remember Colin Viljoens debut against Portsmouth in the 60s he was only young at 18 but he came in to score a hat trick for town to win 4-2 , but Clarkes debut last night was very impressive and he looks so strong and assured for a 21 year old

Reluctant to say it, but Bullard. Scored against Derby in a very good performance from what I recall.

No idea when I began here, was a very long time ago. Previously known as Spirit_of_81. Love cheese, hate the colour of it, this is why it requires some blue in it.

Except that was Finidi's second game for Town. His debut was at Sunderland a few days before, when they kicked him off the park.

Yeah, the Derby game was his home debut in which he was absolutely incredible

I’ll add Martijn Reuser (swoon) popping up with an injury time winner to the list, probably not an incredible performance per se given he’d only been on for about 5 minutes but definitely a sign of things to come!

Was Pollitt's debut not also Matthew Bates home debut as well?

And Bates put Luke Chadwick into row C with a huge, fair, tackle?

Won himself a lot of Town fans in that moment!

Steve Whitton. Debut for the ages applaused off at half time by Churchman’s, yes Churchman’s applauded a player.
Never before or since seen a player take corners down the right with his left foot, corners down the left with his right.
Also; Baltacha.

Are you sure about the Steve Whitton corner thing? Wasn’t Neil Thompson almost always on corner duty? He didn’t miss many games! If I remember correctly and I probably don’t…

Don't know if anyone remembers Owen Garvan's first full game as an 18 year old, first day of the season against Sheffield Wednesday I think - first half and hour he looked tidy but didn't get too involved, then all of a sudden there was a 5 or 10 minute spell where he totally he ran the game and you thought wow what have we got here.

Real shame it didn't quite work out, but he had incredible vision, composure and awareness for an 18 year old.

Think it was Cardiff actually, maybe Alan Lee scored in a 1-0 win?

Anyone remember Sergei Baltacha Home Debut? Unless my memory fails me he scored an unlikely goal and became a cult player.
